re: Natchez MS: Opinions?
Posted by FlyinTiger on 8/8/24 at 10:26 am to Kafka
Many folks from NOLA including my gang take trips to Port Gibson. The area offers fantastic hunting, a rich history, and some really charming B&Bs like Collina and Isabella houses. Plus, there's the Natchez Trace nearby, lots of sunken roads you can bike on, and some interesting museums, including the Grand Gulf Military Park. You can even go kayaking down the Bayou Pierre. If you're thinking about a second home near the outdoors, there are some beautiful old houses for sale that are quite a steal. about a 25 minute drive to Tate Taylor‘s place at Churchill. they are several summer camps around so some people have stayed a night or two in Port Gibson while they pick up their kids or drop them off… It is definitely an unknown gem. We like staying there because it’s halfway between Natchez and Vicksburg and we can take in both towns in a weekend. there was even a post on the outdoor board a few years back that invited hunters to come be part of a lease…

Ramone was on the Claiborne County line South of Port Gibson this morning. We stopped and gave him some breakfast from the B and B. He gave me his story and told me the sherif of Jefferson helped him get to the county line. The Claiborne folks showed up and were coordinating to help him get to Vicksburg. Claiborne County Trying to find out now if he is a veteran to maybe get him some help through that route. He is set on going to Alaska.

Don’t forget “Skins” Fornof. He was the youngest of the Flying Fornof’s Great Fighter pilot!
He brought his dads navy leather jacket into work one day. Instead of the brown sheepskin collar his father had had it replaced with a chinchilla….

I’ve heard the stories too, but like you have no proof. Interesting though and possible.

We enjoy it
A few clicks within but we go and hang at bar or pool and engage with those we like and stay away from those we don’t care for.
If you live close it’s worth it. Our kids all did sailing camps and enjoyed it.
Sailing classes and lessons for beginners and always something going on….

Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney.
Terminator Genisys.
May or may not have been a driver in a scene in a paddy wagon. They shot the scene over and over for about 21/2 hours. Between takes they seamlessly switched from native Aussie/Kiwi accents to American English. They even joked about it. Between sets saying “ok we are bout to speak American” with a twang. Didn’t engage or talk to them but they seemed pretty down to earth. The director Alan Taylor came and chatted with me. He was cool. he directed a season of game of thrones.
