Is anyone else getting tired of selective outrage?

We had an Officer involved shooting in Shreveport a few days ago. Unfortunately the guy that was shot passed away. So now we have protests in front of Government buildings from people wanting answers. Which I completely understand.

Meanwhile no one wants answers or heads to roll when there are rolling gun fights in residential neighborhoods, random shootings on the Interstate or nightly shootings in the Hood.

If they’re going to get outraged and protest about one shooting then they should get outraged and protest about every shooting. Don’t selectively get pissed just because someone told you that’s how it should be.

People have been taught to depend on and blame the government for more and more things. It's far easier to blame a government official or two, who are easy to find and won't retaliate, than it is to blame some POS thugs who may shoot whoever rats them out once they get out on a ridiculously low bond.

The same thing applies to mass shootings now. People sit around the TV and gawk. Just waiting to see what the shooter looked like so they can decide how mad they'll get.

It's frustrating. I've had to take a step back from politics and other similar items recently because nobody gives a shite.

Exactly. I’ve stopped paying attention to almost all of it because I know exactly how the story is going to go depending on which side it’s coming from.

Not at all. This is extremely healthy behavior. Our country has never been more unified.

it’s what they’ve been programmed to do. they also know deep down that only personal responsibility is going to change what happens in their own communities and that’s not an investment they are willing to make.

Although I agree with you, to be fair, we already know the answer to this one.

Totally agree. That is why the whole "Black Lives Matter" movement is total bullshite to me. If black lives matter so much, don't be selective about which ones matter more.

If a gang does a drive-by and kills innocent people with the way they love to spray areas with AK's, then let them protest that violence as equally as when a cop kills a criminal. Until that happens, they can go pound sand as far as I care.

Oh, and it's not just black lives that matter----it's all lives.

Black lives matter....if there's a grifting opportunity. Otherwise, none of them give a shite.

It could not possibly have anything to do with having higher expectations for government employees who have been granted the right to use sound judgement than one would have for a common criminal. Dead is dead either way but the damage done by the criminal is limited, the damage done to the public when the government employee acts with poor judgement is far more eggergious to orderly society. We can only do demand so much of criminals but we have some control over government employees. They certainly should be held to an infinitely higher standard standard than common criminals.

We'd all be better served to give up the victim mentality that has seized so many people in this nation. We would also be better served to make a concerted effort to quit being skeered of things which are highly unlikely to ever happen and even less likely to happen to any given individual. Folks are skeered to death in the US today...of all sorts of stuff that is nearly impossible. Folks are also all a victim of something and outraged by stuff they have no control over.

It is incredibly unhealthy from a mental health perspective to pay much attention to any media outlet. I have given it up for long periods of time and was far less angry. I categorically refuse to talk about politics, race, sex or religion with anyone I do not know well...but man not many folks take that tack...most folks seem to want to tell you there deepest thoughts within seconds of starting a conversation. I will do it on message boards but not in person...

Folks protesting at the county courthouse is not taking action in their own communities? Where would they take action then?

Wait a minute. Government is to blame for a lot of society's woes. I won't give an inch from that point.

I can absolutely blame the thug for individual acts of hatred, violence, or crime while also blaming government for destroying neighborhood schools, fueling white flight, and unintentionally incentivizing divestment from the neighborhood that produced that thug and all of their thug friends.
