Anyone else celebrate Thanksgiving non-traditionally?

Most of my closest family members have passed on or we're no longer close with. Same with my wife's. We've begun having Thanksgiving meals at restaurants because it doesn't make sense to cook bigly for just three people. This year we're planning to eat Thanksgiving at a new Indian restaurant in town.

That said, I remain staunchly against Christmas decorations before Black Friday.

We did that a few years back because the logistics of getting home became too time consuming. We created new traditions of our own, and eat what we feel like. It is more about having my immediate family all under one roof, and spending the time together.

We went to Cracker Barrel once, but now we just stay home and fix our own.

I go to Biloxi alone and gamble/watch football all day.

Get really drunk too.

Been doing this the last few years and they’ve been the best Thanksgivings of my life.

One year my wife and I took a trip instead of doing Thanksgiving. Would do it again.

We do traditional Thanksgiving, but the pre-party Wednesday night involves snails.

Easy and quick with all the other prep work going on, and man are they delicious with some french bread and wine.

Kinda rubbin salt in the wound with the whole "Indian" thing aren't we?

Damn that's sad AF. You know you can do all that while spending time with the family?

Yes, after my neighbors dogs ate our thanksgiving turkey we ended up going to a Chinese restaurant and we had fun with the waitstaff singing fah-rah-rah-rah—rah-rah-rah-rah-rah…

My sister and I started to do sort of an Iron Chef challenge where we'll pick the main course, see who can to it better, and the rest of the family votes. We both don't like Thanksgiving food.

I am one who likes Dressing. I like ham - turkey is just ok.

With that said, I think we continue with tradition but at some point, may navigate away from that.

I wouldn't like it as an annual thing. We did have two recent thanksgivings where it was just the wife and I due to some one-off events, and they were awesome. But in part it's because you know you're going to have the traditional ones and it's a break from that.

I like traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, but a change of pace year is nice every now and then.

We used to get together at grandparent’s house with 40+ and will forever cherish those days.

Last year my wife & kids watched a movie at theater at a place that has good food & drinks. We have been doing things like that in recent years, will also cherish these moments in time.

I always make homemade lasagna for thanksgiving and because I work in the hospital every thanksgiving day, we get together at my house the Sunday after the actual holiday.

I do have my tree up already though

If being by yourself is non traditional then that is my tradition.

Although I have had the privilege of some great Thanksgiving days. Haven’t had a good one in years. The last time that I have even had a meal with a fellow human has been a few years ago.
