I’ll tell my kids that anytime we get together is great for me. It doesn’t have to be a calendar designated day.

My wife is a nurse who normally works the night before Thanksgiving and the night of Thanksgiving (so she can have Christmas Eve and Christmas off)....so me and the kids usually have BBQ for Thanksgiving.

If is works out with the rest of the extended family, we do the traditional Thanksgiving thing the weekend before or after.

It's not really that non-traditional, but since it's just me and the wife and kids, we usually do a duck instead of a turkey.

We got together Saturday. Tomorrow we're headed to the camp for the rest of the week. R and R, no hunting. Reading, riding, cooking, loving.

I remain staunchly against Christmas decorations before Black Friday.

Was about to contribute to your subject OP, but after seeing this I’m just here to downvote and say I don’t care. If it’s November 1 it’s time for decorations and music.

Not many. Most of my friends have died. Family is scattered and have their own obligations. Everything will be alright. I’ll go fishing or hunting like I always do. Didn’t mean to “ poor mouth “.

I need a “good” lady. That would go a long way.

If it was up to me, we’d spend every holiday just us two at home.

However, it’s not up to me.

I love both of our families, so it’s not necessarily that. Big family gatherings, especially when cooking is being done, is just overwhelming. I’m always exhausted when we get home.

My Mom’s side moved Thanksgiving to Saturday so we’re doing a non-traditional meal (brisket and BBQ sides) on Thanksgiving for some family and friends.

Sorry to hear.

We still get a minimum of 30-35 of the ball-bustingest, fun , no-drama folks together under one roof, eat too many casseroles, too much desert and listen patiently as the older ones tell the same damn stories, same damn jokes year after year.

At my house, I make Chex-Mix and "leftovers" portioned out in tins to give a way.

I've turned into Clark Fking Griswald.....HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I never tasted Turkey until I was about 16 years old. A girlfriend brought it to me.

We always ate pork roast, ducks, poule d’eau, oysters, shrimp and crabs. Every kind of way you could cook seafood.

My best Thankgivng’s were spent in the GOM, Fourchon and Lake Penchant.

I always make homemade lasagna for thanksgiving

Homemade lasagna -- with homemade pasta sheets -- has become a bit of a Thanksgiving tradition for my girlfriend and me too over the years.

We both enjoy it more than traditional Thanksgiving fare but never feel like putting forth the effort aside from special occasions.

I genuinely love Thanksgiving food and don’t think to make that stuff any other time of year, so besides skipping turkey I wouldn’t want to steer from all the traditional dishes we have.

That said, my friend started doing Friendsgiving the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and I told him yesterday I’m bringing baked ziti or something. By Sunday, I’m over Thanksgiving food and don’t want it all over again.
