Anyone drive to Houston today?

I have to drive to Houston tonight, and drivetexas.org is still showing I-10 closed between Beaumont and Winnie and just west of Winnie.
Guess I’ll have to take Hwy. 90 from Beaumont all the way to Houston.

Read open but some water still on road so down to one lane in places
Is 90 open ?? Check on that again to make sure before you get on it
Was blocked with flooded cars and water but I know they have been clearing cars with tow trucks
Lots of stoplights/towns on 90
I like it better when others are not using it but suspect it is packed now

I thought the bridge was knocked out?

I have a friend with family in Vidor and there is still a lot of water on the roads around there.

They can reroute to other side of bridge (think like the basin bridge depending on where it is)
They just fixed the stupid thing cause it got hit by a barge a little while back
This looks worse and creates a big slowdown for a while

As of Friday, the damage caused by the 3 barges to the I-10 could take months to repair. If your going anywhere in North Houston, I would suggest TX-105 @ Beaumont. It’s a nice highway if not too much traffic is diverted that direction.

You going to that Iron Maiden concert?

honestly i'd avoid I10 as a whole. sounds like a shite show.
one accident and it'll be an 8 hour drive. yeah, the route below, is 5-6 hours no matter what, but at least you'll be moving.
190 > 12 > 10 thru Beaumont > 105.

I know the bridge is out on I-10 east of Channelview. Is it closed to all traffic?
This is the map of closed roads west of Beaumont.

TX-105 @ Beaumont.
I would check on its status. 105 around Bevil Oaks is always under water even in a drought.

Oh yeah, didn't scroll that far down. My aunt lives in Bevil Oaks and still can't get to her house. Neighbor took a blurry pic and it looks like she is dry except for the garage

I passed 90 last night. It was down to one lane at points but passable. 105 is underwater.
I heard I10 west is open and saw some cars coming from that direction and there are options other than the bridge that is knocked out
Good luck

Waze app says take 10 to 90 then all good. Shows all road closures. Come on guys.

Yeah, looks like I-10 is open between Beaumont and Winnie. Probably gonna take I-10 and detour to 90 before the bridge that’s closed.
From DriveTexas:

As of 1:00PM Sunday, September 22:
I-10 east and westbound between Beaumont and Winnie has reopened following flooding; however, some sections continue to hold water and are only open to one lane. IH10 remains CLOSED at the Crosby Lynchburg Road Bridge due to a loose barge striking the bridge, it will remain closed until the bridge can be inspected.
Multiple roadways are CLOSED in southeast Texas due to flooding, with flash flood watches and warnings in effect through today.

I'm driving I10 now. I'd suggest getting on 90 in Beaumont, I'm about to have to detour to it anyway right outside Houston.

Waze is showing I-10 then southwest on Hwy 146 to Baytown, then 225 to Deerpark. Google maps shows I-10 then detouring to 90 before Channelview.

I just drove from Houston to BR. I10 easy bound right outside of Houston is shut down. You can take 225 through BayTown to get around.
West bound a few miles outside of Beaumont (Houston Side) was a cluster frick. 1 lane is open but there is water in the road. Other than that it wasn’t bad.

Might be better by then. It's two bottlenecks west of Beaumont where lanes are closed with standing water. This detour in Houston to 90 right now is a pain and backed up, I just have a feeling it would've been better to get on 90 in Beaumont. But later tonight, maybe it will be better.
