That's kinda odd. How would one rib a Bama fan, when we've only played once in recent memory, and lost, and there's not really a rivalry there?

Was at a wedding reception in 2015 and was wearing one of my Bama polos and had to hear about how the Badgers were going to lay a beatdown on the Tide. After the showdown in 2015 I still had to hear about it.

Our students are so fricking overrated, but don't even get me started on that.

The alumni all seemed incredibly snooty, some Longhorn alumni have given me the same impression but not at the level of UW-Madison alumni.

Live there for a year (and in Milwaukee), other than brutal winters, Wisconsin is super nice.

Madison was a great city. I would default to the people who live there now, but I always enjoyed it despite the political lean of the city not being my political lean.

This is likely where we'd look to live, or further west out in the country. The job would be with Epic there in Verona.

Epic doesn't surprise me. Growing by leaps and bounds.

There are nice smaller towns heading out towards Dodgeville on Hwy 18/151 where the commute shouldn't be bad.

The traffic circles in Mt. Horeb would make that a non starter for me though.

I've never lived there but they have the best farmer's market, wraps around the Capitol Bldg and is awesome.

Anyone who was confident we were going to win going in is/was an idiot. I was just hoping we'd keep it close.

I'm guessing we have alums that run the gamut just like most schools do. I've heard from others that the students can be dicks, but are getting better about that.. perhaps because they're less passionate about our teams than back in the day. I would wager that scUM alums are worse than us by a mile.

It is rare in Wisconsin to not have a garage (assuming you don't live in an apt building).

Ya, a garage will be a must have for a house. Wife knows the drill for the area as she lived in Detroit for several years.

I thought it was hilarious that this kid (current student at the time) was serious about it. Majority of the other Badger fans I knew had the same expectation and I told them that these games were necessary for the Badgers to take the next big step as a program. Recruiting has improved since that game and they are now pulling recruits from SEC country. I am looking forward to visiting Madison in 2024 .

Anything scUM is worse.

Here's my take. I've never lived there, but been there quite a few times due to my grandmother's side of the family being from there. Madison in the summer isn't bad. The town itself is very clean, but average at best when it comes to doing things. The winters suck there. The lakes surrounding madison are nice if you like the water. You aren't far from Chicago and Milwaukee like others said. I'm not a fan of either city, but you may love them. Whatever you decide weigh all the pros and cons and go from there. Good luck

The campus is awesome, but they are not afraid to work the shite out of you (I used to get emails from my counterparts there at 2 and 3 am). Madison is an awesome place, I've visited ~10 times for work.

Thankfully I wouldn't have anything to do with software development, which is were stupid hours like that come in.

Well, not directly anyway. I might have some baws working for me that the software devs would come to hate though.

Buy something out towards Verona. Nice neighborhoods

City will be close enough to enjoy.

Grew up in Madison. Great town. Winter sucks

Live in Milwaukee. To me the worst part of winter is how dark it is...it seems like you get about an hour less of daylight in peak winter than you do down South. Also, they do a good job of clearing roads after a storm but don’t underestimate the amount of time that snow can add to your commute when trying to find a place to live.

In general I think Wisconsin is a pretty underrated state and the weather is the only thing I could think of that would be a dealbreaker for most people. Lots of people move away strictly as a result of winter.
