Can’t get that 0% on a 4 Runner up in the Port City area I found out - and they aren’t coming off the price since inventories are low

Bought a Mercedes SUV for the wife a month before all this started. Kicking myself. Paid cash so got a decent deal but could’ve saved a lot of money if I knew this shite was going down.

Way to out yourself. Cash hasn't been the good deal getting method of payment for many years now.

Not to be an arse, but why? A car in high school is a luxury. For your own sake, do not finance a new car for a high school kid.

Been thinking hard about a new F250. Haven't pulled the trigger yet though.

You are on Crack Cocaine to contemplate buying a new car (especially on credit) for a High School kid.

Repeat after me:

“I will not”

_______

“buy my high school aged kid”

________________________

“a new car”

_________

“because it’s generally unwise”

________________________

“and isn’t good for the kid.”

_____________________

The only exception would be if you have a special needs kid, then safety and potentially having a vehicle outfitted for their needs might justify it.

Remember when Jamarcus Russell got millions of bucks from the Raiders for simply being the First overall NFL Draft Pick?

How’d that work out for him?

For a girl get her a five or six year-old Lexus ES350 sedan.

If you can possibly pull off getting a sedan for a boy then also do the same.

No Jeeps, no true SUVs, try to avoid trucks in general.

You should be most worried about CG-related issues.

If you have a kid who likes to hunt, maybe a truck but keep it low to the ground.

Besides the safety aspect, once you give a kid a new vehicle in High School, where do you go from there?

Another new car for college? Naw, that’s bad for THEM.

If they are doing well in college, about their Junior or early Senior year get them a new car.

They’ve moreso earned it by then if they’ve been good students.

Girl at work did a 3yr lease on a Civic for her h.s kid. Less than 200/month. Not sure how much the first payment was.

My dad did the old “you get a scholarship, you get a car for college” thing when I was in high school. I got a good scholarship. It was still a used car.

I want to but I have a feeling that the worst is yet to come. So I'm holding off.

So yes you’re right but if I get her a 5-6 year old sedan, financing will suck as there are zero deals to be had.

I agree , she needs a used car.

Kia has a decent 2 or 3 year lease deal right now ; under $175 per month with $3K down

Just bought a Taco last night 0%/60mths. Don't get a new driver a new car, get them a beater because they are going to tear it up. I would say something around $5k or less. You could always get yourself a newer vehicle if yours is older and pass it down. But it's your kid and money, do what you want.

Is she going to college in the fall? If not, she doesn’t “need” a vehicle.

Kids wreck cars all of the time. I would rather my kid wreck a 5k car I paid cash for, rather than a new car I financed for 84 months.

I'd guess it's what homos call a Tacoma.

If you go new, and don't put a ton down, make damn sure that you get gap.

Also, don't tell them you're financing it for your daughter.

Nope, this didn’t happen. When buying a car (from a dealership, not from Vinnie on the corner) cash isn’t king. They make money on the financing, so they push buyers into financing - especially Mercedes and other luxury brands that rarely offer 0% financing.

Tried to buy the wife a car... she didn't want a new car. She knows she is bad with new cars and cars in general so she wants to keep trucking with her what, 9 year old miniSUV by now. Whatever.
