I lived in AZ for 30 years. I've been all over that state but never Yuma!
Lived and worked in Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, Mesa, Scottsdale. White Mountains are my favorite area.

Lived in AZ in the early 2000s for 9 years and was told by a co-worker when you drive thru Yuma, you’ll think you’re on Mars. Sure enough, he was right!

This.....step out of the car and it feels like you opened an oven door next to your face. Get in the shade and its tolerable, unlike humidity where there's no escape.

Their HS mascot is the Criminals. They were selling shirts at Walmart, I regret not buying one.

Hot as hell. Interesting area in cooler weather. The sand dunes near there are popular.

Yes, as someone who is used to really humid days in deep south, Yuma in July and August is pretty bad when it’s close to that 120 degree range.
Outside of the summer months, like many areas in Arizona, it’s quite pleasant.
Also, you’re not crazy far from San Diego and Phoenix. Castle Dome and a few other areas are nice outdoor hiking areas.

I've spent time in both Yuma and 29 Palms. Both are ridiculously hot but actually gets pleasant in the fall and winter as far as weather. I loved Yuma women when i was there.

I agree. Was in flagstaff and it was 120. “But it’s a dry heat “ they say. frickkk that. I wasn’t sweating because my perspiration evaporated too quickly. Felt like the egg in the old brains on drugs egg in a pan commercial

The whole "dry heat" thing is bullshite imo. Like opening an oven door every time you step out, I'd rather the humidity.

I mean, 110+ degrees isn't great no matter how you slice it. That said if you can hack 95+ with high humidity 110 with low humidity is no big deal. I wouldn't recommend hanging out in the sun for an extended time, but it's not undoable.

Just my 2 cents but it's like the difference between standing in full sun at noon vs. full sun at 5pm. It's hot & miserable either way, but the midday sun is much stronger & will heat your skin far hotter than the air temp.
Arizona is the midday sun all day long
