I went in the spring. You couldn’t pay me to go out in that dirt field in July or August.

Doesn't look like a good time from this pic. Especially right now.

What’s the ratio of diamond seekers to diamond finders?

Went in 2017. Took the kiddos camping. Found some cool stuff and they average a diamond a day. Mostly tiny ones but the history of the volcano and the families that have owned it in the past is interesting.

We still have one unsifted bucket we just know a big ole diamond is in there

I've been. It's somewhat unique. The little museum is entertaining.

Just know you are paying to work. And don't plan on finding anything. Also your kids will be cranky, bored, and tired after an hour.

I would rather pan for gold if that was a choice.

We just left there yesterday. We camped in the campground. Very hot and humid, thank god we have 2 ACs on our RV. We went early in the AM to do our diamond searching, only dug around for a few hours. No diamonds, found some quartz. My 6 year old grandson had a lot of fun and I’m glad we did it. If I ever go back, it will be when it’s cooler, humidity was brutal.

My sister and her family went last year and had fun. No blood diamonds but the kids 7-15 had fun.

Back in 1984 my sister found a little over 1ct diamond that mom still has on a chain. Sis was taking a geology course at Memphis State that took a field trip to the crater.

Last September a lady found an 4.38ct yellow diamond.

Our grandparents took up for multiple days when we were kids. It was brutally boring, at least for 2 kids with their grandparents and weird uncle.

It’s hot as f and you rent mining equipment to go work like a slave in a dirt field for however long you can take it then drag a handful of rocks back to the lobby where they tell you “congratulations on your handful of rocks”

It’s possible I did not have the best experience.

I’ve been. It was god awful hot and that mud is sticky. People say it’s best to go after a rain. That’s a damn lie. That mud is ridiculous. You’re paying to sift dirt in a giant mud field.

I would go an hour north to the Wagner crystal mine. Find quartz on the side of a mountain. Was more fun and they had some shade.

I remember going when I was around 11. I very distinctly remember my dad not being happy, as he got to do the majority of the digging for both me and my sister in early summer.

In hindsight it’s quite the racket, you are literally paying to do hard manual labor.
