Jesus is the only eternal support for your soul.
NO human being will be there in your darkest moments or when you face death. You will be alone except for Jesus.

Not great. Days are OK, nights are hard. I stare at the walls. I found a site that has emotional support chat rooms and it's been a lifesaver, maybe literally. I spent all night there Monday night.

That’s better than how it could be. Opening new social circles is essential. Unfortunately, that’s probably what I am worst at with this ordeal.

Good advice right here. Also, although I have never suffered from depression whenever I need a pick-me-up I get out in nature. Something as simple as a long walk or hike and sometimes go paddleboarding or kayaking. It always does the trick. A long motorcycle ride works too.

Yeah, you can’t just “grow a pair” or “man up” like the ignorant comments above say.

I’m glad it’s becoming ok for men to discuss mental health. Obviously, it’s important for women too, but there’s long been a stigma that man should just sack up and get over it.

Chemical imbalances

this is completely overblown...there is actually no evidence that anyone who has depression also has a chemical imbalance...this is why SSRIs are completely worthless to a large percentage of people...and i believe that a lot of people who do respond well to SSRIs are experiencing a placebo effect, and there is nothing wrong with that if it helps...

also, many people who are simply not satisfied with the state of their lives assume this is depression; however, this is not clinical depression...it still feels awful, but it's more of a midlife crisis type of thing...same thing with the loss of a loved one...grief often results in depressed mood, but this is not the same as clinical depression, unless it does not resolve or improve over time...and again, this is event/trauma based and likely will not improve with SSRIs...

I disagree. I found out I had depression and anxiety because of headaches and dizziness. Every afternoon I’d feel it, and at worst I’d start to get clammy. Long story short, I went to a neuro, have been on a light dosage, and the headaches have been gone for over a decade.

This sounds hokey, but do something nice for somebody. Doesn’t have to be a big thing. Send a card, take them to lunch.

This. Serving others is the only true joy in life. Do some charity work as a hobby and it will help. Check out a Celebrate Recovery group also.

Cenla. Working out, watch collecting. I guess I need to take my own advice and find some group acti cities. I volunteered at the local food bank last week and I'm scheduled to do that again tomorrow

Life ebbs and flows. I stay busy and try to notice the little things and it keeps me regulated.

Exercise is key

Hmmm, I disagree with you my man…to each his own I guess.

I’ve been through things that you wouldn’t believe and I’ve never been depressed about it, never been religious either. Spiritual, yes…religious, no.
