I wouldn’t say specifically beat it.

I do counseling. Then i also do Jiu Jitsu and lift weights every week which helps by far the most.

I think being more involved in hobbies and stay exercising is a massive part of feeling better about yourself

Must suck not being able to talk about your feelings without worrying about being grounded.

Warm cock pocket and a pocket full of money does wonders for depression

Doing things for others is proven to help fight depression.

This helps me the most and the thing the depression tries to keep me from doing. It knows I'll feel better so it tries to stop me.

How old are you ?
As you age life kind of loses its luster.

Yep, I've climbed out with service many times. Whether it's charity to strangers, or truly helping someone you know. Making people happy makes most people happy.

Not great. Days are OK, nights are hard. I stare at the walls. I found a site that has emotional support chat rooms and it's been a lifesaver, maybe literally. I spent all night there Monday night.

This sounds hokey, but do something nice for somebody. Doesn’t have to be a big thing. Send a card, take them to lunch.

Also: make a list of things you need to do. Include even small stuff, like cleaning off your desk or sweeping out the garage. Checking things off helps immensely.

This is a stupid response. Chemical imbalances are often unaffected by such things.

Most days when I wake up, I'm immediately filled with guilt.

For no reason. My mind will subconsciously search for whatever things to fret about.

I was born that way. Crack/meth baby, I'm sure. My parents were 16 year olds in Shreveport who I don't know - that surrendered me to Volunteers of America to be adopted.

Honestly, I’ve been battling this disease for some years. Some days are better than others. On high doses of medication. I have a good job and a great wife. Just can’t break the cycle

Get out, fresh air, music, exercise. That can all be wrapped into one.

See your doc ,don't be afraid of meds. Clinical depression is real and often is biological based

Yeah, you can’t just “grow a pair” or “man up” like the ignorant comments above say.
