True story. 10 yrs old me was placed on top of Rusty at my uncles house off Grenwell Springs road in 1970. Original route was once around the house just me and Rusty no chauffeur. Started in back yard Rusty must’ve sensed I was weak and scared. Rusty walked straight to side of road as the gravel trucks roared passed us threatening to step out in front in one and send us both to the glue factory .My feeble screams for help drowned out . My rescuer finally pulled me off Rusty and Rusty did as he had threatened stepped in the road and was hit by Volkswagen Beatle never to threaten young innocents again. Fuk u Rusty scared ever since

You need to enroll in The Zou University for starters.

Not afraid, but I hate the finicky, sickly bastards. I was riding when I was about five around the paddock, horse got spooked and jumped the paddock and took off down the pasture towards a stand of trees, I tried to jump off, the horse stopped on a dime and kicked me in the face.

frick horses.

All they do is act like whiny bitches and die for no apparent reason.

This shite hurts. I had a retired thoroughbred, 17.5 hands tall, that was deathly afraid of walking through puddles. I was walking near a puddle one day and he basically walked over me to avoid it and stepped on my foot and shattered it.

As with most domesticated animals, horses can be temperamental. They have personalities and you have to learn them in order to get along with them. Most importantly, don't try bullying them. A horse is much bigger than people, well, most people, and can literally kick the shite out of you.

I wouldn't say I'm scared of horses, but I'm wary of any animal that is considerably larger and stronger than I am.

I’m not afraid of them but I want no part of them after I was thrown off of a particularly temperamental one. People don’t realize how far of a fall that is from the top of a horse.

I remember a couple times as boy riding on them and trying not to act scared in front of my grand pappy.

was always nervous that black bastard was going to start sprinting any minute.

I've had 3 run over me as I was trying to feed them out of my hand and they got overly aggressive.

I'll still ride them if the opportunity presents itself but I keep a high respect for em.

17.5 hands isn’t a real measurement. It’s either 17 and a half hands (which is 17.2) or 18 hands, which thoroughbreds rarely reach that height.

I’d bet money on 16.1 or 16.2

People always think they are over 17

They frighten me in that they can be unpredictable and they are incredibly strong.

Whoever placed you on the horse alone is an idiot. 10 years old on a 1200lb animal that isnt ridden everyday is stupid. And it obvious that horse wasnt rode every day.

There are many horses that 10yr olds can ride, but those horse are ridden every single day by numerous people. We went on vacation this year and took the kids horseback riding with a guide. My kids are younger than 10 and they were on each their own horse tied to mine. No issues at all but I would never allow them to ride the horses my brother has at my grandmothers place. My wife and mother in law were nervous and my mother in law rides horses every day. She is just used to her own horses and didnt feel comfortable on someones elses horse. the guide reassured us that the horses wont take off on their own.

If I had the time to spend with one I would consider buying one for the kids but like I said they cost too much.

It's true actually. Most people don't know this, but a horse has something called the Torgussen's gland. Another tidbit of equine trivia, all horses love Guns N' Roses, but only their earlier stuff.

When I was young I was placed on a miniature horse that was being led around. Someone didn’t fasten the saddle tight enough and I fell off mid-ride. Pretty much ended my career of horse riding.
