There is going to be a boatload of leeway when it comes to the prosecution.
No one but the wife will have seen what transpired beyond the car. RoidBaw will claim ol' boy tried to punch him and he merely defended himself.
There is zero chance that in this day and age there won't be another video angle of what happened from security cameras.

Everything the old guy did is admirable from what you can see and hear in the video. It takes guts to get involved in a situation like this and do what’s right and stand up to this bully. The only thing the old guy did wrong was fail to protect himself when he was in close proximity. That guy had clearly exhibited that he was capable of violence and he let him get too close without being in a more defensive position. He probably could not have “won” the fight, but you can’t let a person that much bigger and stronger than you get into your space and be totally unprepared and vulnerable. Hope the old guy doesn’t have any lasting effects from the punch and fall.

That's the second set of jail garb. Is he already modeling for Prison Enterprises?

We don't really know if he was on steroids. That's just an assumption made by the board with little evidence. Someone said they knew him in high school and he was an arse back then. To go on about the influence of steroids gives him fodder for the mitigation phase. But he'll likely plead and get a few months in jail.

I clearly don't know much about steroids, but this is exactly how I imagine someone on steroids acting. I would t imagined him being a little bigger, though.

The real question here should be does anyone have a contact or family member in St. Tammany Parish Prison?
Surely, this dude has had his arse beat by fellow inmates by now.
Need an update on how bad this perp is hating life.
Work your contacts OT. This place knows no limit.

Even if there isn’t, and the guy somehow manages to skate on the civilian end, he’s still screwed in that his CO will be waiting in line to get all elbow deep up in his arse. And there’s plenty of footage already to justify that.

I know him. I’ll get crucified for saying this, but he isn’t a bad guy. I’m not sure what was going on with him that day, but he needs some counseling. Yes, he could be an arse when we were kids. Couldn’t we all be?
Clearly he messed up on this one. I have known him and his family for 20+ years. I hope he is held accountable for his actions and he is given a chance at redemption. You are seeing him on his worst day, but he has a lot of good qualities.
The last time I spent time was maybe 10 years ago at an old classmates funeral. He was calm, thoughtful and reverent. He had grown up to be a great guy. I suspect there is more to this story we do not know- specifically some sort of treatment for his mood/behavior that was not successful. I really hope he gets the help he needs. The Richie I knew was crazy, but not malevolent.
