USPS reliability seems to vary greatly by area.

The Pony Express would be more reliable than USPS in my zip code. Our Postmaster can't read. Not even kidding.

I see an army of vans every morning on my way to work at a movie theater parking lot.

Seems they find any large parking lot they can in the early morning hours to fill up their vans and set out.

Horrible. Had a package set for delivery on Tuesday of last week. Noticed the Prime van in neighborhood. Received an update that they made two attempts to deliver package but couldn’t find a “secure” location. Mind you, I had family at home the whole time. Finally delivered next day after I went in and selected “leave by door” as the delivery location. Stick to filling the boxes, not delivering them.

The ones delivering in their personal cars are working for Amazon "flex" it seems.

LINK

They also have some program where for as little as 10 grand they will help set you up with a delivery business with vans, insurance, etc.

No. They are way worse than the USPS.

Amazon "flex" drivers.

These are people that work part-time for Amazon. Amazon calls all those on the flex list and determines who wants to work that particular day. Amazon then sets up the delivery schedules for that day and the flex drivers show up at the delivery station (or tent) to pick up their packages for delivery. The drivers you see showing up in cars are normally flex drivers and not full-time Amazon employees.

Amazon is building a delivery station in BR also-not a fulfillment center. These are also known as "last-mile" stations.

Had some initial difficulties as they delivered several packages to the wrong house. They also have some technical issues as one package that was delivered showed to be lost on the tracking. I called and told them I received it and the rep said they would take care of it and thanks for letting them know. I got a refund a few day later anyways for the lost package.

Oh and the drivers appear to be poorly trained and bad drivers. One lady instead of using the back in turnaround in my driveway did a 20 point turn and still ran off in the grass. I saw another van stuck in a ditch in someone's front yard last week as well.

Yep, looks like a shitty fireworks stand.

regardless of what it looks like, its actually a very cool design. completely pre-engineered to meet wind load requirements and it gets erected in a fraction of the time of a metal building or similar.

my understanding is that these fulfillment centers are intended to be temporary and that this (along with the hundreds/thousands of others they've installed) are test markets for viability.

the "last mile" delivery service business is skyrocketing

frick NO!

Twice last week I had a package delivered to the neighbors house. How the frick you deliver box 2 of 2 next door, and box 1 of 2 at the correct address? Very next day, another package at my neighbors house.
