Reading this thread and don’t have any input on living there but that last comment caught me. About people having a yard or a car. Blows my mind, coming from a south LA upbringing, that some people don’t have those things.
It’s all relative. People who grew up in New York probably can’t believe that there are people who have never used a subway or been able to walk everywhere.

My wife's family sent the kids to alternative schools, but her cousins went to Spence.
I remember her saying the formula for getting your driver's licence in Manhattan is age of loss of virginity + 15 years.
Edited from wife to explain joke - it should be 10-20 years and it's something like the average age of a woman born in Manhattan getting a driver's license is 50. Because they are uptight.

Boo - bigger numbers might be a good thing for you. It certainly has to improve your odds. Do you make decent money?

Kew Gardens a hundred years ago. I lived in what could be described as a broom closet. It was a different time. Guiliani ran the place, and it was sorta nice. It's always been mega expensive.

The drug trade is a good intro and a solid note on your CV.

I’m just being completely honest. I have no idea what that means. But I can’t imagine it doesn’t exist in New York or other cities. Don’t limit yourself.

Yeah, I’m sure that’s temporary. Everything is cyclical and it’s still the greatest city on earth.

From this thread I gather it's hard to support yourself there in nyc. Won't be living like on friends

Fact. Every bar I walk into everyone yells my name.
Although I’m an alcoholic.

Look, it’s a life adjustment. You need to be ok with not having a single family home, yard, car, etc. but I’d argue the benefits outweigh the burdens. But that’s for each person to determine on their own.

The bartender always pours me a beer before I even sit down at my barstool
