Anybody had, or know someone who had, balloon sinuplasty?

My sinuses, nose and inner ears are all fricked up. Seeing my ENT on Tuesday to discuss. Does this procedure actually work? Once they open them, do they stay open?

My career as an opera singer has gone to shite because of this.

Not sure about balloon but my dr advised for the taking out of the sinuses vs the balloon

Had it done 3 years ago and I’ve been pleased.

This sounds painful. How does this work exactly? Cutting and pulling? Shaving?

Develop a coke habit and let it slowly eat away at your sinuses until they work properly

I don't know him personally, however I've seen enough of his movies that I feel I could share his experience of this procedure in Total Recall.

I used to get horrible sinus infections about every 3 months. Had the balloon sinuplasty done 5 years ago and would do it again tomorrow. I still get the common cold that will stop me up but nothing like before. Hurt like hell when I got it. You could hear the cartilage breaking as balloon was inflated.

The YouTube videos of it are cool. You can always hear the cracking of the cavity opening up.

I had septoplasty 2 years ago & that recovery was MISERABLE

I had it done, I had a sinus infection for 1 month after it. The are also doing stents, I can't say it has been effective but my sinuses headaches have improved. I know for coronaries Balloon procedures are not as effective as stents. Good luck.

We do this almost every day. People seem to get good results with it as far as their sinusitis goes. If that’s what’s causing your symptoms if may work. Occasionally it will scar back down and have to be revised, but that’s rare. Make sure your anesthetist knows it’s being done for your voice. They will use a smaller tube and that will also lessen the chance of changing or damaging your voice

I did it. Didn’t work. Turns out I was allergic to hops. 5 years since my last beer, no sinus pain. Hopefully your outcome is better than mine.

It's little controversial.

I think for the right patient, right symptoms and type of sinus disease it works. Can have lasting effects. Some providers I think over utilize it since it can be done in office and reimburses well.

Some type of sinus disease just needs the traditional surgery.

I had it done about 4 years ago. Used to get sinus infections all the time which led to ear infections. Recovery after the procedure sucked as I had stents put in and could not breath through my nose for about a week. Since then no sinus infections. I get the occasional stuffy nose, but that’s a bout it. Only downside is now I can smell how bad people stink.

Had it done and I haven't had oak pollen issues. Which I had up to 6 years ago when the procedure was performed.
