Sounds like your problem isn’t with the dog but its owners.

I think you are more disappointed in your family's behavior than the dog.

(Totally understandable)

The dog is just doing what he is allowed to do.

So...to reword your thread title: (to put things in perspective)

quote:

Anybody got a family member or friend that you don't want to see because of the way they treat their dog?

QUOTE: "We have friends that make their damn dogs the center of attention whenever we’re hanging out. They even collect our dinner plates and let them lick them clean…at the table."

Set those plates aside unwashed and be certain to serve them on those plates the next time they show up.

I won't be more than acquaintances with someone who keeps animals inside or brings the animal everywhere. It's weird behavior and those people usually smell.

A mostly Staffordshire terrier.

When she puts the dog on a leash, the dog walks her, she doesn't walk him.

Nah man, you don’t know too many black women with money. They definitely like their yap-yap dogs and bring them everywhere like it’s their baby or something.

This is definitely not just a white thing.

I have a friend who has the whiniest, most self centered kids I’ve ever seen. They yell and curse at their parents in front of my wife and I. I brought my pit bull over and nipped that in the bud.

Not reading all these posts but feeing defense as a dog owner. But skimming these sounds like dog crazy.

My in laws. They have a yorkie that will not stop barking if anyone is standing. It’s their own fault because each time the dog acts that way, they reward him with a treat thinking that’s what will make him be quiet. They’ve trained the dog to behave this way

I got a buddy, and he’s a damn good guy. He has two dogs and I like both of them. Real good hunting dogs. But I can’t step foot in his house because my allergies go bonkers. If we hang out it’s not at his house.

Idk I had family come visit with a large Golden Doodle. They kept it in a cage it couldn't stand up in and got upset with me when I would let it out the cage to be free with my dogs.

I think crating a dog is cruel torture but some think it's the best training. No of you crate your dog you shouldn't have a dog.

I’ve got a buddy with two big dogs and his entire house smells like piss and wet dog. I assume he’s gone nose blind to it and I have no idea how to let him know so I just avoid going over there.

The original poster’s relatives seem like irresponsible dog owners. The fact that they don’t even have a rabies vaccination is beyond irresponsible. Isn’t there ordinances in most areas about that? Some people are too stupid to own animals.

It is weird behavior for you.

I'm the same way.

People who keeps dogs inside...at least 90% of them...their house smells nothing but the dog. Soon as you walk in. With dog hair everywhere. It's nasty AF.

Dogs don’t really bother me. They usually trip out for a minute and then leave you alone.

I have a buddy that owns a meat market and grocery store. He hates dogs. I guess because of the smell they love him. Always getting up on him and following him around. He is a funny dude so it’s fun to watch. Sucks for him though.
People who treat their dogs like humans is weird though. I love my dogs , but they are not kids.
