I bet a lot of those who work from home have

I don't know about drinking that day but I imagine there has been a time or two where I may have had some lingering effects from Thirsty Thursday.

I supervise operators on heavy equipment, most are Hispanic. We normally start between 5-530 am. There have been plenty of times where I've made an amigo walk a straight line before letting him hop on a friggin 100K+ piece of machinery.

I'd have to be drunk to work from home again

Every Saturday and Sunday morning back when I was at JcPenney. I would close the bar down and sleep for an hour or so in the parking lot at work.

Undergrad pizza job I used to all the time. Would never go in drunk to a real job though

I'm loving the honesty, OT.

One year the 4th of July fell on a Thursday. Me and the crew being the geniuses we were partied like rock stars all day and into the night. I went into work the next day and upon arrival I realized I was still pretty much hammered. I was able to keep a low profile until around lunch time when my eyes finally uncrossed.

Never "went into" work drunk but definitely shared a few beers, cigars, and bourbon in the principal's office on Fridays when I worked at a private high school.

I have a friend who worked for Schlumberger. He got a DWI on the way to work.

Many, many times when I was in the Navy. I once went out and got hammered because the next day we had an award ceremony and were going home after (I was 18 or 19 at the time). I figured I could sit in the auditorium and clap while people got their awards even if I was still drunk. When I got there my chief told me I was getting an award... then he realized I was drunk. He told me he could smell alcohol. He said when the CO got to the guy on my right to start holding my breath and not exhale until he got 2 guys down on my left.
After the award ceremony they needed a volunteer to ride a tug out to a submarine to deliver mail. Guess who got volunteered. I puked the entire way out... about 2 or 3 hours straight. The tug boat crew was giving me saltine crackers and water.

I frequently did this in college. It made work ten times more enjoyable.

From the night before...quite possibly (not drunk but at higher levels than allowed). We'd go to week long trainings (some were months long). It was a group of guys fresh out of college. Never drank if it was anything important the next day, but often would get plastered during the week when we knew we had a presentation to sit through the next day.
I had the talk with our former HR girl since she'd drink with us after work sometimes too. Told me if I ever got picked for a drug/breathalyzer test, just let her know if I got drunk the night before, and she'd make it take as long as possible
. You had to blow a 0.0, and I could easily see that being my downfall at that time.

Being drunk on the job will definitely impair your ability to work competently.
i would argue that some of my best work whatsoever done in this job has been done with a moderate - severe buzz (in my home of course, not out on the field.)

Yes, when I was younger and not as responsible. By the time the hangover kicked in, it was a shitty 4 or 5 hours left at work.
If I did it now, I'd have to keep drinking throughout the day to stave off the eventual hangover.

Yeah I'm not allowed to drink(not even a single drink) for at least 6 hours prior to my shift. Something happens at work, first thing they will do is draw blood. I have alcohol in my system I am fricked and would then have to fight to keep my nursing license/job.
If I saw a coworker acting weird(like on something), I would report it right away.

Yeah sometimes. The Airline frowns upon it though so I have to keep it hush hush.

Many years ago I had just finished a 16 hour shift holding down the hospital's medical lab and was due to have three days off. I went home and enjoyed a six pack with plans to go to bed thereafter.
The phone rings and it's my boss calling me to let me know that she needed me to come back in as my replacement was evidently drunk/high and had wrapped his car around a tree not far from the hospital.
I explained that I had just downed a six pack, was also exhausted, and in really no shape to drive, much less jam needles into someone for med lab testing. We made a deal where I would get triple overtime, and someone else would do the sticking and bring the samples to me in the lab. All I needed to do was stay in the lab, do the tests, and call someone to come get the results. If there was a slow moment, I could sleep on one of the blood bank couches. After we came to terms, she even got the hospital to send a car to pick me up as well as deliver me home once things were done.
