Didn't have much interaction with the buoy center while I was there. The few times I did they were cool. Can't speak to how there contract is setup and how often it is out for bid.

I can’t see for shite...CLUNKY.
Getting something done is always an ordeal. There are tons of ways government sites could be run more efficiently, I don’t want to bitch about the ones I see from my knothole...it would probably just show how little perspective I have.

There’s a ton of work out there. Numerous companies, sub contractors, and different industries. Most of the work is tied to government budgets. But I am glad to work there.

Wow, you have the run out the clock mentality already. Depressing.

I bet they have some nice deer on that place. It’s closed off pretty well.
It’s a pretty decent spot. We used to have a hunting lease in that area

Approaching mandatory retirement age and it’s kind of sad. Love what I do and not ready for it to end.

As a kid we would go ride around watching the deer. When I worked there I did the same thing. Deer everywhere
Full of deer unlike the surrounding small pine poor soil forest in the area.

Deer are everywhere in this state. Lakeland Drive is the busiest road in Jackson and I see dead deer on the side of the road and I’ll see them cross the street in broad daylight

Not sure, getting a lot of people contacting me. Feds, Boeing. Thinking of moving to Seattle so Boeing sounds interesting.

Was in a Safeway out there last week. Noticed when I was checking out they had the liquor locked up, looked a little closer and saw they had to lock up the Tide lozenge things that those hippies out there like to eat too.

There is a reason everyone down here looks for leases from Jackson and North

I reckon it would be a neat place to work at, for sure. You’d be around for some of engine tests coming up in the next few years for SLS.
Was lucky enough to tour the Michoud facility recently. THey had some of the redesigned/refurbished engines from the orbiter there. I hadn't realized that 14 of the 16 engines for the Artemes SLS were going to be re-purposed from the orbiter program. Also they are making good progress on that program, we will be seeing test flights in the next coule years with full outer orbit launch schduled for 2020 (I believe).
ETA: from NASA Website: The agency will fly two missions around the Moon to test its deep space exploration systems. NASA is working toward launching Artemis 1 in 2020, an uncrewed flight to test the SLS and Orion spacecraft together. Artemis 2, the first SLS and Orion flight with crew, is targeted for launch in 2022. NASA will land astronauts on the Moon by 2024 on the Artemis 3 mission and about once a year thereafter.
NASA’s powerful new rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS), will send astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft a quarter million miles from Earth to lunar orbit. Astronauts will dock Orion at the Gateway where they will live and work around the Moon. The crew will take expeditions from the Gateway to the surface of the Moon in a new human landing system before returning to the orbital outpost. Crew will ultimately return to Earth aboard Orion.
