Anybody ever have an ingrown toenail?

This isn't me, but I've been soaking in Epsom salt and using antibiotic ointment. Internet says it's almost certainly a doctor issue, but it seems to be improving. Any tips?

if it looks anything like that you need to see a Dr...it can turn to staff pretty quick especially if you tried to "fix" it yourself...

I had one that looked like one side of that toe. The other edge was fine.
Went to a podiatrist. He numbed the toe with a shot that hurt like hell, then cut the side of the nail all the way down to the bed and then stuck a Q-tip with some type of deadening ointment down into the hole so that nail tissue would never grow from the corner again.
Worked fine but since that edge was slightly raised I eventually developed that fungal discoloration under the nail, which I just ignore.

I had one on both of my big toes at the same time. I wore too small of basketball shoes at a basketball camp for a week. They got really bad. Close to the condition of that picture. I went to a doctor and they cut them out. Very painful.
