Yeah all the time. Clearly you've never traveled for work. Pull up a stool, have a beer, watch the TV and have a conversation with people.

I don't even go with the objective of getting laid. Just want some decent scotch and a chill place to relax.

Living in St. Landry Parish, it's literally the only thing to do, besides church on sundays.
All my friends and I hit the bars alone and just run into each other periodically.

Are we talking a small local type bar or one with large crowds, etc? Strip clubs are good locations to go drink alone.

I do this sometimes when I'm traveling for work.
Well, when i actually have time when I'm not actually working.
You'd be amazed the random people you meet. Met some cool people up in Rochester, NY one time. They invited me to go to another bar and see a good cover band that played old rock. Good times.
I usually only have time to go to a BWW or some other chain bar and bring the old laptop while I tap the Rockies.

There's an old school dive bar down the road from me and then a newer cocktail style place, I've been to the latter and it's nice although the bar and seating area is a bit small. Haven't been to the other place yet. No judgment, but strip clubs just aren't my scene.

I go to certain bars alone all the time. Granted, I've gotten to know the bartenders and I'm female so they look out for me, but it's one of my favorite ways to spend a day off. Don't have to talk to anyone unless I want to, but I usually end up with a drinking buddy before it's all over.

Yeah, I'm just wondering about the change in dynamic between going to a place to relax after work and then going at night. Think I might go check out the old school place. At least it's closer.

Airport and hotel bars are amenable to meeting folks. Most folks there are alone and waiting to strike up a conversation.
My best experiences alone in bars were in England. Just sit and sip on a pint. Someone will ask where you are from. And there you go. If you ask them about their country and jobs, etc,, they will think you are awesome and tell you how most Americans just talk about how awesome they and America are. It's true.

Cramped, with a dog, a bed and a bathroom. She is on her honeymoon. I'll stop with any other details.

I usually go by myself. All of my buddies are either married with kids or are bums that never want to do anything. Hell, they don't even want to go to any of the festivals around here, so I do that alone. Doesn't bother me one bit, but I'm pretty social and don't get uncomfortable sitting by myself not playing on my phone.
I go to bars that I've known the owners/bartenders for years. Probably gonna do it again tonight

Surprisingly the punching women in the arse trick has been paying MAJOR dividends...

Just do like James Deen and walk up and jam your wood into their butthole

Well, naturally I tried that after punching them in the arse but unfortunately when I went full insertion I kinda got stuck...I mean the girl just typed half of this response and I'm starting to get worried. The staff has brought out butter and a water hose but no luck so far!

If you do go alone, don't become like that guy in Sex, Lies and Videotape who sat at the bar all day long quoting Marlon Brando from Apocalypse Now to the barmaid ("You're like an errand boy...sent by the grocer to collect a bill!").

I just got home. I enjoyed myself, I didn't really get a chance to talk to many people because the bar was full for most of the night, but it gave me confidence to do it again. I had some scotch, a beer, ordered a pizza (there's a pizza joint side by side with the bar), and watched all of the drunken idiots make fools of themselves as they talked about the most basic shite like it was the most revolutionary concepts in human discourse and societal progress.
But, all in all, I'm glad I went and friends or no I plan on going out more often even if it's just me. I appreciate the tips...ranging from the good ones to the not so pure in motive ones

I didn't really do much, but it was relaxed and I had fun. I call that a successful first outing.
