Anytime a place is mentioned and I don't know where it is or haven't even heard of it I immediately open up Google Maps and see if I can locate it without using the search feature.
I did this after listening to that podcast about the lunatic in Alabama who had the big hedge maze in his backyard. Tried find the maze without searching.

I saw an Apple Map car in town a few weeks ago, I guess Apple is in the game now too.
They're starting from scratch supposedly. Which is totally unnecessary because Google Maps is perfection and Apple Maps sucks, but whatever. At least iPhone users will (hopefully) eventually have a fully integrated map app that actually works

If you zoom in close enough, there's a topless lady laying out catching some sun rays.
Probably should edit and put NSFW in the title.

I posted a while ago about a online game called "geoguessr". It's a game where you get randomly placed in a street view and you have to figure out where you are, or at least guess as close.
I remember that. It was a great time waster. I guessed a location within a mile one time. It was in Bogalusa.

Check out this sailing vessel I found while searching the island.
There is a really large gator lurking in the water near that same vessel. Top left

Yeah geoguessr has turned into total crap since they can't use Google maps anymore.
Posted on 8/29/19 at 10:29 am to Ingeniero
They can use Google maps, there just is a charge to use it now that geoguessr doesn't want to pay.
Which I don't blame them

Yep, I do the same. Used to do it with the road atlas on long road trips as a kid as well.

I like going to look at all the man made islands in the Middle East and Asia. There are some incredible designs.

I've always been fascinated with sports stadiums, so that's usually what I go look at. The location of them within cities also fascinates me sometimes, especially the old soccer stadiums around England.

You almost have to have been to some of the places to figure out the context clues.
