If they’d simply sell beer and the game, more people would go. Bc it absolutely sucks to drink at a tail gate then be completely cut off during the game. I just can’t believe the SEC ADs are still willing to leave so much money on the table.

It costs a lot, I've seen some of the best games in LSU history as a student, it takes me 30 minutes to get to campus with no traffic. Lots of walking, usually hot. Yeah, watching at home on tv is much better.

Agree. I look at it in 3 options.
Option 1: Going to the game with my 4 tickets
Have to meet up early with everyone to eat and whatever
Head to stadium early to park
Tailgate
Go to game and spend money on overpriced shite
Go to bar after game bevause leaving is a cluster
Whole day is LSU
$1000
Option 2
Go have a nice lunch at Ruth's
Get drunk
Go to Bulldog and shut the place down
$700
Option 3
Same people or more gather at my house
Relaxing day with watching early games or bullshitting
Drink great beer and liquor
Cook some high quality food whether it be steaks, seafood, etc
Big screen tv
No bathroom lines
People are free to come and go
It's not 100 degrees
When the game is over, the game is over
$200

Just bring in liquor with you.
I walk in with a fifth of vodka every game

Not gonna lie, that sounds pretty fun
But yea, Option 3 is my usual these days.

It's a good balance of the two

Haven't read entire thread but I agree and some of it is I simply can't wild out like I used to for games.
Nowadays I can't:
- go setup Friday evening then drink with friends after (work, family, too much traffic from NOLA, new rules)
- drink all day and be fine on Sunday (I'm old and family)
- sit in the student section (too much like being the old dude in the club)
- park anywhere on campus (new rules)
- chase tail (married, also old)
- just go and chill (have wife, kids, others friends I have to take around)
These days if I make 1 home game a season its cool. I've also found I would rather pick one road game and do "guys" weekend with my buddies where we can try to live like we are young and single.

I gave up my season tickets to UK about 5 years ago, and I love it. Being at games is fun, and we still go to at least one home and one away game per year, but I don't miss having to be there 8 hours before the game to get parked, especially when it's super hot outside, then the nightmare of getting back home after the game.
I much prefer being home and watching other games, then our game, then being able to shut down afterward and not have all the driving.
Not to mention the money I save. Lots of it.

Only way I go is if I have a parking pass close to stadium and a suite invite. I sat in the south end zone for a day game a few years ago and I don’t know how people think that’s fun.

Depending on how the season goes, this could be my last year to renew my tickets. I let the parking pass go already but that might have been a mistake.
To many good alternatives to do on Saturday’s in the latter part of the year.
We’ll see.

I might give my tickets up after this year but keeping the parking pass

Am I alone here?
Times have changed and not for the better for me. If the parking situation and contraflow, causing a 3 hour trip back to Lafayette, wasn't enough the PIPED IN MUSIC killed the atmosphere for me. I was there from the early 70's thru the mid 2000's, but I no longer enjoy the experience there and it's easier to watch at home. Some may not agree but the bands were all part of the gameday experience. When the Texas A&M plays Patton, and it gets drowned out w/ Pink Floyd or rap music, I was pretty much done. The back and forth w/ the Tiger Band and the opposing teams was great now it's just a memory. The blue collar fans were priced out and the give away tickets and social scene crowd are all gone at halftime. This in sum is way too much for me. I used to be upset over it several years ago now it doesn't even bother me, I'm over it.

"the blue collar fans are priced out"
Couldn't agree more with the statement above. The entire situation in a nutshell.

Two main reasons I gave up my tickets.
I am a huge CFB fan in general, I like to be able to watch games all day long. Even if you go tailgating and your party has a TV, it's hard to really watch the games.
As for as "It's not 100 degrees".. There is that part.. But usually only the first one or two home games are really hot.. When I had season tickets, no matter what the weather was like, I felt like I had to go to the games. I was debating whether or not to renew, but there was a game that year, in which it was cold and rainy.. And it was that game I told myself "yeap, I am giving them up".

Yeah I know about sneaking in a flask. But frankly it feels juvenile to have to do that. More importantly I like drinking beer while watching sports, not hard liquor in the heat.

Head injuries have taken some of the luster off football both pro and college. Coupled with the fact that you can’t find kids playing football or following the sport anymore due to head injury issue.
this is so overblown it's stupid. You should go listen to Larry Fedora's press conference from ACC media days because everything he said is backed up by sound science.
Also where do you live? Because in my part of South LA there has been no drop off in kids playing football

Man, I feel for LSU fans, I really do. Tech will never be in SEC/P5 but I can make quick trip over to RSN to have good, Fam-friendly tailgating & watch great D1 football. Season tix are super cheap with no BS seat licenses & I can even walk around with a beer without getting hassled.

All of y’all should come to Nicholls games!
•Easy parking
•Fun tailgating
•No traffic
•Beer sold in the stadium
And on top of all that, a competent coach!

For the last 5 years pretty much all my college football games are watched at my deer camp. No lines to pee, no lines for food, ice chest right by my chair. Flip between games, and it gets boring, grab the gun, or bow and go hunting. I’ve really enjoyed my falls this way.
Posted on 7/20/18 at 4:59 pm to Slippy
Nope. Can't tailgate like I used to but still love going to the games
