Shows that I would pay 88/month. Is there a catch? Another way for Entergy to cheat the system? In b4 you poor.

quote:

Levelized Billing allows customers to pay approximately the same amount for electric service every month. For example, they pay a lower amount than their actual bill amount during the high-bill summer months, but are required to make it up with higher payments during the low-bill winter months. This creates manageable bills regardless of temperature, volatility of our fuel cost, and usage. Under this program, bills are essentially an average of the customer’s monthly utility costs over a 12-month period. Bills will vary slightly each month. The benefit of Levelized Billing is that fluctuations in bill amounts are averaged out over the year.

we do it. It's legit. We pay about $128 a month. Summer would probably be close to 200 and winter close to 80 if we didn't. It makes sense for us.

I’ve been doing it for two years. Watching this thread to see if I’ve been screwed somehow.

It is not a fixed price. There is an algorithm. It changes by your avg bill last 12 months and the difference of the usage between the months in last 12 months.

it was meant to stop the bill shock during summer. It is not a discount or anything. If you start using electricity like crazy, your monthly bill will start going up as your avg is going up every month

If you are going to do it, I would start in the summer with power and winter with gas (assuming electric air and gas heat).

They can get a reading on your meter whenever they want so no more need for levelized billing.

The benefit is that your bill does not fluctuate much throughout the year.

My electric company allows up to a $600 payment with a card and only a 2.50 charge.

It's easier for me to just pay that on my card, pay it off at the end of the month, then do it again a few months down the line.

No.

However, I will use natural gas in winter.

It is just averaging your billing. The winter you will over pay and the summer under pay in the end it works out.

We’ve been on it for a couple years. Like others have said it doesn’t make your overall billing cheaper. It simply evens your bill out from month to month so each month is pretty close to a fixed cost. You miss out on cheap bills in the winter but you also don’t have surprises in the summertime.

I do level billing. All electric house and I pay for a dusk to dawn/security light at dead end of street I live on. I pay about $95-$98 a month year round. Before I signed up, I'd pay ~$125 in hot months and ~$70 in cooler months.

I'm just amazed everyone's electric bill is so cheap. I've always lived in old houses, and no matter the size, the bills are wacky high.

Atmos gas would charge me a minimum charge the 7-8 months I used zero gas (gas heat only). I changed to levelized billing and spreading the 4-5 months of gas use over 12 months actually means I'm paying for gas I used those 7-8 months. Levelized billing is about $150 a year cheaper in my situation.
