re: Anybody conceal carry in school?

Most people, not just teenagers, are too stupid to handle gun violence situations. Think about how often police, who are supposed to be trained for the situations, frick it up. I think it's more likely that if guns were more prevalent that the increase in wrong and accidental shootings would far out way the incredibly rare mass shooter, terrorism scenario.

Absolutely. I can just about guarantee that more students will be killed when some of them are armed than when they aren't.
Well this will be my last comment on this topic.
quote:
How is someone who is armed in the front or the middle of the class supposed to know when dozens of students are fleeing from the scene that when several other students in the back are standing up with guns that they themselves aren't the murderer.
Because the shooter will be... shooting people? The first time a shot goes off everyone will look at the shooter. People will be running AWAY from the shooter making the location of the shooter apparent. You're acting as though people who carry are mentally handicapped and can't figure out who is fricking shooting people in a fricking class room. Would it be chaotic? Absolutely. Is there a chance that someone trying to shoot the shooter may accidentally shoot someone fleeing? Sure. But I'll take 1 person accidentally shot over the shooter just having a field day basically shooting fish in a barrel and killing 20 people.
You're assuming that every class has 100's of students in it and that all the people carrying are totally incompetent and on the other side of the classroom and that the shooter somehow snuck into the middle of the class room unnoticed when he started shooting rather than being at the door. What if someone who is carrying is right by the door the shooter walks in? What if the class doesn't have 100's of people? Most classes aren't that big. What if there is a hostage situation? What if the shooter starts in one class room then moves into another class where someone carrying is ready? You just tailored a situation that best fits your argument and is literally the worst possible outcome that could happen. Sure there are things that could go wrong but the only thing that will stop a shooter is someone with a gun and the longer it takes someone with a gun to arrive the more they kill.

And that makes your theoretical situation much, much worse. When 12 armed people stand up in a crowded classroom among the hundreds of others fleeing, how do they know which one is the one killing people? Maybe if he came in with an AK-47, but a handgun? No way to know unless he happened to walk in from the very front of the classroom.
Have you been to college? Obviously not, but I'd say well over half of them you enter from the back of the room instead of the front, a place where no one is looking. If I was an armed 19 year old in a room where I hear a gunshot and sitting in the middle of the room, I look back and then see an armed guy standing up, my instinct would be to shoot him in the face. But first, some innocent unarmed bystander runs into my firing range, she falls to the floor, and then I shoot the other guy with the gun. Turns out that he was just like me and looking for the shooter amidst the chaos. So I unwittingly kill two people I didn't have any intention of killing. And that doesn't include the other 10 armed people in the room and the other innocent bystanders that would be shot and killed.
quote:

No they won't, because in a contained room, the sound will vibrate off the walls and no one will have a clue where it is coming from, especially if several armed people stand up. Only a person who has been formally trained in dealing with an indoor shooting situation would be able to identify where the shot is directly coming from. The people will instinctively flee towards the first exit they think of.

No, they're not stupid. Unless you are formally trained to not do such, you will rely solely on your instinct and not your intelligence. This has been ingrained into your body and mind for literally millions of years. I know you pride yourself as John McClaine, but you'd be doing the same thing. You'd shite your pants in terror, but you are too stupid to see otherwise.

Ok, it's clear you're an uneducated idiot who has never stepped foot in a college classroom. My freshman classes I may could have identified like 10 people in the classroom, and if someone comes from the back of the classroom 15 minutes after class begins, I either don't notice or assume he just got drunk last night and is late. If I was mass murderer, I'd personally target the classroom with the highest number of students in it. It's what these psychopaths do.

What if someone who is carrying is right by the door the shooter walks in?
As I pointed out earlier, the only possible way this doesn't end horribly, but even that would likely end with the heroes death with other students packing heat.
quote:
What if there is a hostage situation?
These people aren't remotely interested in hostages. They're there to kill.
quote:
What if the shooter starts in one class room then moves into another class where someone carrying is ready?
Ummm, that wouldn't happen. The students would be fleeing from the building with terror by that point. You seem to think life is a lot like Die Hard.

No, I've tailored it for every situation. Yes if they stupidly decided to attack a small classroom from the front, there's a chance that if they had an ROTC guy fully trained and prepared for the situation, yes, he could stop the situation. But in pretty much every other situation, more people are killed, or at best the same amount. You are an idiot.

That's the best part. Truck got broken into so I drove to the Lsu PD station so the "detective" could take prints and whatnot. He saw my .45 and immediately started to threaten an arrest

2. Anybody who doesn't agree with me is an idiot and can't have a rational conversation.
Just because you have zero training with guns doesn't mean nobody else does. I hope you are never in a hostile situation but if you are run and hide behind somebody else with a gun (which you will for sure be doing) they will take care of you.
Most people with CC permits aren't everyday college dipshits like you wasting their parents money on a liberal arts degree. CC permit holders are law abiding citizens who for the most part have been raised and trained with guns their whole life.
Your posts have been so ridiculous I can't even believe I'm typing all this but I couldn't help it.
For your sake I truly hope you are never placed in any hostile situation but if you are don't worry the police are only 25 minutes away

Junior college doesn't count. That's high school with ashtrays.

So me not wanting armed teenagers in a classroom means I'm a democrat. Only idiots try to simplify things to democrat and republican. For your information, I vote republican 90% of the time, but anyone who disagrees with you you need to categorize them into a single group.

Let's ask pretty anyone in law enforcement, the military, or special intelligence, and I think they'll tell you that my scenarios are far more likely then your bizarrely specific ones. Ask how fun it is to deal with civilians in a contained room with limited exits as someone shoots at them, and then add untrained people with guns who make the situation even worse.
Anyone here who has any training in any of those fields listed care to tell me I'm right about this?
quote:

I have never, ever met someone in college who has the training to deal with a mass shooting in a contained environment. Maybe they've shot in a gun range and been hunting, but that's quite a bit different than a mass shooting situation.
Seriously, what college has a student or two who is capable of this situation? I'd venture to say none, including in the military academies. You have to be highly trained in order to effectively handle a situation in a small room where hundreds are fleeing. This is James Bond caliber situation and an event people train for many years to be able to handle. I don't think there's a single 19 year old in the country that has been properly trained to handle this situation.
quote:
I hope you are never in a hostile situation but if you are run and hide behind somebody else with a gun (which you will for sure be doing) they will take care of you.
Would I have the time to do that? Would I think that that's not the guy who is shooting at me? Would I even realize what the frick is going on when something this horrifying and bizarre is going on around me? No one ever expects to find themselves in this situation, so no, I wouldn't have those instincts on what exactly to look for. I'd think my natural instinct would be to hit the ground and act like I was dead, but I really can't be sure that I would do that. And even just contemplating that, I am not sure that would be a good solution. I am not trained in this, nor do I know the exact mindset of the person who is doing the killing. And thinking it through, why would the frick would I run towards a shooter when he could easily shoot me while I'm running towards him? I don't think running towards a shooter would be my initial instinct.

CC aren't trained for close quarters shootings where civilians are running all over the place. This is a huge difference. You just get dumber and dumber.

You pride yourself as if god gifted us John McClaine, James Bond, Rambo, and Ellen Ripley all wrapped into one. You would get yourself and others killed by your ridiculous thinking. If everyone thought like you, we'd be in a Mad Max society within the year.

They have no clue what they're talking about. Training is important but even that isn't enough. When your in a situation like that, you get an adrenaline rush to hell. You get severe sensory deprivation. You can't hear at all. You get extreme tunnel vision. You become either overly aggressive or timid. Your comprehension skills go way down. That isn't choice. That isn't something you can control. Experience helps some but not always. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people who are very well trained who have adreneline rushes and they simply make bad decisions. And that's just a little bit to consider.

Seriously, I don't think these people are processing how chaotic of an environment this would be. No one would ever be prepared for a situation like this in a college classroom. 250 people trying to flee a mass murderer and surviving leaves hundreds of options of ways things would go wrong. These idiots are acting as if these people are going to target a classroom, come in from the front, everyone stays calm and collected, and then all of the sudden a self appointed Jason Bourne stands up and shoots him, probably getting the lady in the end. It's just ridiculous anyone thinks it's a good idea to bring a gun into a college classroom, and you are simply too stupid to think everything through if you think otherwise.

If you get caught, you would be charged with a felony and up to $250,000 fine even if you saved a bunch of people and was a hero.
