I think they are great for anyone who wants to read books. Good for the people who have them.

I filled our local one up with copies of Mein Kampf. One lucky person will find an autographed copy.

There are two in my area that I have used. I see them as a throwback to a better, more simple, more neighborly era. It's not just about the books, it's about the sense of connection.

I agree. We have 2 on my street and another 2 or 3 more in the neighborhood.

If you have one of these within 5 blocks of your house, you have arrived my friend.

I noticed there's one outside of St. Martin's in Old Metairie, but also a "Free Pantry" one as well. I'm not really sure who is living near St. Martin's who will need some random non-perishable food, though.

I use them for dead drops

I have left a few copies of my book at The Shire's and Greenbriar Hollows.

I think they are cool

they're great until the "Daddy Wears a Dress" books get placed in them.

Nope. I'm fine buying a $7 used book from Amazon. I didn't put my physical books in those boxes either. Trade amongst friends and associates. My old box was next to the tennis court, and it was full of books with chick colored covers. There was never going to be anything like "The Psychology of Military Incompetence" in that bitch.

Replace it with Kirk Cameron's As You Grow, then throw the offending one away.

I don’t have one in my yard but I have put books in ones around here

It’s just a matter of time before some MF puts something deadly or vulgar inone.

People are generally worthless.

I use them to get rid of paperbacks I've read.
I'll leave them in random locations.
The one at the Bucktown marina I'll put good books in. I even left a cd player in it one time.
