but that's the risk you taking buying the first model year of a new generation vehicle. I always prefer to wait a few years and let them work out all the issues whenever a new generation comes out.
I just bought the wife a 2018 xc60, delivery date 9/11/17, and holy shite am I worried about the completely new model. They have too much riding on this to put out garbage, but still, worried.

I own a 1995 & 2012. Love 4Runners and they're forever reliable.

I bought a 2016 in early Feb. SR5 w/ 4 wheel drive. Its pretty basic which I wanted. I like the sceen display for GPS/Radio. Im getting 19mpg. Ive towed an 18ft catamaran and it towed fine. Some people complain about the ride but coming from a truck I like the ride a lot.

At our vacation rental my MGM Taco shares the driveway with a new MGM 4Runner...I think mine looks better, but they were probably more comfortable getting here. We can definitely put more stuff in ours, and it can be nasty and wet and it doesn't matter.

It is weak under the hood. Also is a terrible riding SUV.
My wife drove a BMW prior to the 4runner and has never complained about the 4Runner's ride. It's a body on frame so it will ride rougher, but to say the ride is "terrible" is ridiculous.
As far as power, it could use another 50hp, but it's dangerously slow.

The only thing I can tell you is my dad drove one for a few weeks and liked it a lot. His SUV was in the shop so he rebt d something different, said r was a very comfortable ride.

Is your SR5 standard or Premium with the leather? How do you like it? If it wasn't for towing heavier things, enclosed trailers, goosenecks, etc I'd get rid of my F250 for a 4Runner. My fiance wants to get rid of her CRV for a 4Runner though and that's what we were leaning towards, SR5 4x4 with the cloth interior.
ETA: Why don't dealers carry many 4x4's? The dealership we stopped at only had one 4x4 and it was some gross TransSomething Package with ugly bolts ons say came from Toyota and wanted an extra $6000. They'd have had to find/order a 4x4.

Standard Cloth interior. I like it so far. If I want leather I can always add in future.
If she is coming from an CR-V have yall looked at the Highlander? I think the new styling looks a lot better than previous models. A friend and his wife just purchased an XLE Highlander and its very nice

Oh yeah, if it was mine.
She doesnt need/want more power, it's her car and refuses to allow any mods to it.

Tell me about this. I know nothing about cars. What does it do?

I have a 2011 4Runner limited. I love it. I drove an 07 4Runner SR5 before this one and loved that too. Functional and drives well

i'm looking at a 4runner for my next vehicle.
currently have a 2013 outback (purchased new), and of course i'm the one person ever (i'm cursed) who has had a bad experience with subaru. transmission failed at like 70k, luckily i purchased the extended warranty, but it still pisses me off. up until that point i had zero issues, but having to have your transmission replaced at 70k is ridiculous, especially since subaru reliability was such a big reason for purchasing in the first place.
it sucks though because that vehicle pretty much checks off every one of my needs:
- awd/good in snow
- good mpg
- reliability (at least that's their rep, but again i'm cursed)
- resale value
- solid price
so now i feel like i'd be an idiot to purchase another subaru, but i really do like the vehicle. so i'm now thinking about jeep GC and toyota 4runner, but jeeps are notoriously bad (i had a cherokee in HS, and it had issues) and the toyota feels a tad overpriced, and mpg is pretty meh...but reliability may swing me. i have no idea why i just wrote all of this, i guess i was just thinking/typing out loud.

Wife had one. They are more expensive but have good resale. Better than the other choices you listed unless you need more room for kids.

Any Toyota 4Runner Owners here?
Checking in.
Love it. Plan on running it for years, and will likely replace it with another 4Runner.

I bought a 2017 TRD Off-Road on Memorial Day. I am loving it so far. Traded in a GMC sierra and have been very pleased. I didn't get the premium package but I did get the Navigation. Do it.

4Runner's have a lot going for them imo. Great resale, low maintenance, longevity. However, if you're buying a vehicle as an investment you're an idiot. Also, everyone i know with a vehicle built after 2010 has had no major non-warrantied issues (fwiw, toyotas have problems too). I drove a 2010 gm truck for 7 years with no problems whatsoever.
I have a family member with a 4Runner and they are looking to get rid of it. The ride is harsh, mileage sucks for the size, poor acceleration and just generally unpleasant to drive around town per their comments. They really do run for a long time, but get in a 4runner over five years old and tell me it doesn't ride like crap. My buddy had a 2009 that was more jarring than my truck.
I recently made the jump to new model Tahoe and I absolutely love it. For those saying it's hard to park, they have obviously never driven a truck
. Tahoe feels like a Honda to me. It's the most pleasant highway vehicle I've ever driven or ridden in, and the quality of the interior is miles above a Toyota imo. I'd go Tahoe all day if you can afford it.
