I've owned 3 over the last couple of decades. Love all of them. I currently own a 2019 Laramie and it's awesome.

You should be able to get a used one for like $15k with 40k miles. They hold their value as well as a video game from gamestop.

Never liked the look of them until this year's model came out. Apparently it's all-new and drives like a dream. Won most of all the awards for 2019. Seriously considering getting one.

Tundra baw. Trust me, it is a superbly built vehicle.

I agree, but that's kind of of out of my budget at this time.

What year?
I've got a 2014 Lonestar edition with 48k miles. It was wrecked with around 12k miles causing just over 30k in damage thanks to an illegal immigrant turning across the lane I was in without looking. State Farm refused to total the truck and fixed it.

That said, it still drives great and I've not had a single issue out of it. It's the smoothest riding truck I've ever owned. Lots of features in the truck and everything works well. The interior quality isn't on par with my previous couple of vehicles. Buttons develop more play than I'd expect. They aren't sloppy and feel like they are falling apart, but you can feel a little wear in the action on them. My BMW and Toyota Tundra both had over 100k miles when I got rid of them and the interior was a tight as I recall it being when they were new.
Also the paint scratches far easier than anything I've ever owned. It's not the same quality paint as the Tundra and it's not even close to the BMW. This is also my first ever black vehicle and it will show more than other colors. I like it, but I'll be going back to white on my next truck.

All in all, it's a good truck and the drivetrain is rock solid. The 5.7 doesn't pull as well as my Tundra did either, but that truck was a beast.

Thank for the input. The one I'm going to check out is a 2016.

Surprised to hear this bc I think the Ram is as fast and tows as much as the Tundra. And I own a Tundra.

What year is your Tundra? Mine was an 07 TRD and that thing was raw power, it was fast and fun to drive. At the time I had a 21ft wakeboarding boat and it yanked that boat around better than anything I've ever driven outside of a 3/4 ton. I drove the '14 Tundra when I bought the RAM and it definitely felt like they tamed the power delivery on it compared to my 07. There was a noticeable drop off in pulling power with the RAM from the Trundra pulling the same boat.

I honestly never liked dodge vehicles but I got a deal on a Ram years ago. Now with over 320,000 miles and still going strong, I can't say much bad about Rams

Ram 1500 Tradesman with the 5.7 Hemi

Run far away. Nothing but electrical, fuel pump, and transmission issues.

I have 4 trademan on the farm. A 2017 with the 5.7 has 60k miles on it and has had 2 front differentials replaced, 3 fuel pumps, numerous recalls, and a transmission replaced. They are pieces of shite

Take note OP is talking about the Tradesman Rams which are cheap made fleet vehicles. Trust me besides all the issues, you ain’t pulling nothing heavy with it. The rear suspension isn’t made for it, it has coils only and no leaf springs and gets squirrelly as hell over 50mph when hauling a load. They’re made for light fleet work, not anything heavy duty.

The higher end Rams are decent trucks though

had an '03 Ram 1500 for 11 years (170k miles or so), the only issues were ones I caused by young drunk driving mistakes - replaced it with a '14 Laramie Limited and other than a few software warranty issues have no problems whatsoever through 60k miles other than a faulty brake light on the top of the cab that was replaced under warranty.

Best Interiors of the 3 majors imo, and a great driving / riding truck.

I have a 2016 with the 5.7. The power is adequate but never blew me away. I wouldn’t think Toyota would intentionally tame it down unless it was for better mpg. Horsepower I think has stayed at 381.

I have a 2017 Ecodiesel Laramie 4x4. It doesn't have the horsepower of the Hemi, but it's happier pulling a load than the Hemi thanks to more torque that comes in at lower RPMs. I got 36 MPG out in New Mexico with it.

Any thoughts on the Dodge Ram 1500 ?

Only that it's a 1st production year; never buy 1st production year vehicles.

When I do buy my next truck I'm test driving the Dodge.......and I'm a Sierra guy.

You're welcome.
