he evidently can't find the actual set of quizzes that they actually took!

Isn't your youngest son a senior in HS? That would put this daughter in college right?
Oldest in grad school, #2 a senior, daughter is a freshman. I would NOT be worrying about a college quiz.
And I'm only trying to see what other teachers would do should they lose a quiz/test that hadn't been handed back to students but the grade WAS in the computer system.

if you had misplaced a quiz/test before the kids were able to review it?
This happened when I was in high school once. Teacher said his car got stolen. Turns out he got drunk and forgot where he parked it. He gave everyone with a B or lower an 85 and everyone with an A a 94. Guy 100% posts on the OT.

The test was never handed back to her? I'd raise some hell.
Hence the problem with the modern education system. To many parents trying to solve problems for high school and college students. Hint, guide them, but let them handle the issue. They need to learn how to properly talk to authority and get what they need in a respectful way. Raising hell will only hurt the daughter. It is amazing how many idiots do not understand that fact.

Grades are subjective, they are not objective,
I am not a teacher (thankfully) but this is very true. And I could even go as far as saying this is the reason why I switched universities.

Sounds like a good time to teach your kid that sometimes life isn't fair. It's one quiz. Unless it's a quiz worth a significant percentage of her grade who cares?
I remember quizzes being a very small percentage of an overall grade, but maybe times have changed.

Read the op and Super Saint, you read it as well ... she's to handle this.
I told her I could certainly go and speak up for her but that SHE needs to do it ... and I suggested counselor or Asst Principal. I told her if it was important enough to her she'd handle it.
Again, I'm curious as to if there is some "normal" way for this to be handled by the teacher. Throw out and test again. OR if you like your grade, keep it.

Honestly. Let it go. One c at this point in the semester is not gonna tarnish her academic career forever. This reminds me of a girl I went to school with for a very long time. Very smart, but off her rocker. If she made anything less than an A she would throw a fit and start crying. Sometimes even cutting up the paper. I'm talking about a scene. If video phones were a thing back then she could have gone viral.

That would have been a good reason to give her an F on something! hahahaha

Just ground her until she produces the quiz. That'll motivate her.

His grade categories aren't weighted and he doesn't have many grades ... I told her she had better bust arse on each and every assignment to bring up the current C if she doesn't want her first EVER B or C.

You got a problem with my comment ??
I agree most of the others that this is probably just a small inconvenience that is not worth worrying over.
