I used to have an Elantra where in order to replace the battery side headlight bulb you had to loosen bolts along the frame and wiggle the whole assembly out.

Then, wiggle it back in and tighten everything up.

It took 30-45 mins for that side and 30-45 seconds for the other side.

I had a Saturn once - for the life of me, couldn't figure out how to get the damn bulb out of the headlight assembly.

After some frustration, I sit down and Google it.

"Step 1 - Remove bumper."

Eventually I learned that you could loosen the quarter panel bolts and the bumper bolts some and wiggle everything enough to NOT have to take the bumper off. Holy shite.

In summary, I drive a Toyota now.

Just change the fluid, it's pretty easy.

Go to Auto Zone and ask for headlight fluid

Your drive way or carport. YouTube is your friend.

ETA- planned obsolescence pisses me off!

I have, and they can be a pain in the arse, but I still couldn’t imagine paying someone to do it.

One of the headlights on my suburban had to be pulled out of the grill area to change bulbs, but I still did it… at the same time, I’d let the daytime running light bulbs die and not change them until other bulbs went out.
I started on my Honda Pilot but even after taking stuff off it was a pain to reach, and you are doing it without seeing what you are doing. The Walmart did it for $15 over the price of the bulb. I like DIY but there is a real PIA / cost threshold.

Did mine this morning.

I think 2014-2019 cherokee low beams can all be changed through the wheel well.

The bulb is sealed in a canister, more or less. You just need to unscrew the lid to access the bulb.

Make sure it works properly before sealing back up.

I had a 2011 Malibu and had to remove the grill, bumper, and fender to get to the bulb. Wasn’t a 30 second job.

I just want to say that those people who design shite like this should be executed.

If it is that difficult you think an auto parts store can spare an employee for 3-4 hours to do it?

p.s. It's not that difficult. OP is just a pussy

Went to Pep Boys. They were great. Turns out it is the ballast. Buddy of mine who works at a mechanic will knock it out for me.

Thanks for all the love, OT.

I have changed out a lot of the ballast on those vehicles. pretty bad spot where it is designed. sits in water. I changed most to LED. $100 for a pair vs $125 for 1...
