Have an appointment tomorrow to replace the front windshield. The quote is lower than I expected. Are they going to try and strong-arm me into paying more when I get to the shop?

Any personal experiences with Safelite?

I’ve used them multiple times. Came to my work garage and handed over keys and they were done within 30 mins. No extra fees

No they are great. You get a discount for saying a prayer with the tech FYI

I work for an auto glass company. Go with a mom and pop shop not a corporate business.

Yes. I had them replace my mother’s windshield a few months ago. They came out to the house and were very quick and professional. The tech didn’t offer or try to get me to get anything else - not seeing why they would do that

Really good, really quick. No complaints.

Their communication during the work borders on too much info.

Twice. Went to them once, the other they came to me. Both times they were great. I didn’t pay a dime, and they didn’t ask for anything else.

I’ve had two windshields replaced by them at my house. Neither were good. The first replacement they did was a couple of days before a long trip in which the moldings on either side of my windshield blew off. They replaced new ones free of charge when I got home.

Earlier this year, they sent out a guy that was clearly new. He left a 1/8” gap at the top of the windshield, and the side moldings were loose as hell. He also screwed up the billing between them, the insurance company, and me, that took a month to sort out. I had to take the car to their shop so they could reinstall the windshield properly.

I’m definitely done with them.

Over the years I have probably used them a dozen times. Always been happy with the results.

A few of those times I’ve had to bring the vehicle in because I was outside of the at-home service area, and I’ve found those jobs to always go above and beyond.

I've used them 3 times, twice they came to the house and replaced windshields, and once to my office to repair stone chips.

Each time went very well, the work was performed well and to my satisfaction.

Used them once. Service and price was great, no real complaints there. But when I ended up with a star on the windshield a few weeks later (because Louisiana roads), I brought it to a local place to get it repaired. They looked at it and asked if I had had it replaced recently. I said yes, and they asked by who. I told them, and the guy recommended never using them again because of how thin the windshield was that they put in. He said I was lucky it didn't shatter.

Not sure how much stock I put in that, he could have just been trying to get more business, but I'm at least skeptical of any lower than average prices.

The last time I had a windshield replaced, I used a local guy in Lafayette, and will be using him again in the future if I need.

They do fast work and I paid zero, insurance covers it.

Even if you ever have a small crack from a rock call them they will fix it and it won't spread.

Yes. I called them to replace a window in a minibus. Gave me a quote under $300. They showed up with a window without the defroster strip and said they would return. He returned when I was gone. He called me and said I'm at the office to replace your window.
I asked him to please check in with the office first. He didn't.
Got a call from the office saying the bill was $800.I said put him on the phone.
$800! What the hell!
Never mind.
He says "too late, I already installed it." I said "But I haven't paid you yet." "Tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna make a few calls for pricing with other companies.
If your price holds up I'm gonna pay you.
If not, take it out.
You shoulda checked in first dude."
Got a call back in 5 minutes dropping the price almost $400.
