You guys made a killing on 1 10. Easy money for the cops taking drugs off the bandits and then selling it themselves for big $$

Cash went to stacks, then it went to piles
Thanks to the dope fiends hitting crack vials

So that’s a classic 1-1, 2-2, poem pattern.

I was involved as a teen, but not by choice. First band I was in, the guitar player was breaking it down in vinegar and shooting it into his veins.

So we would be all together trying to write, and we'd get visitors by individuals who had no interest in music. Guys with names like "Levi" and "Omar".

Closest I got to the game was I worked with a dude who was in a work release program. Was in jail for 10 years. He had 2 houses that was cooking crack then he would distribute. He was cold busted in one of the houses.

My sister owns a bunch of trade schools with one of them being a barber college in the middle of an urban area. I worked there through HS and on college breaks.

We would have about one student a month go to prison for crack. We would find it in the lockers routinely. They would try to sell it or distribute while at school while on quick breaks. Saw it all. One guy was pretty high up and never touched it, just the money. He had a brand new luxury car loaded out every month, among other high end stuff.

We used to get the heads coming in all the time for haircuts. They would bring in all sorts of stolen shite to peddle. Plus took request to steal anything you wanted.

Not crack related but I told a student once that he needed to pay his tuition or he wouldn’t be able to finish school. He left at lunch, robbed a bank, and came back with cash for tuition. Police picked him up about an hour after he got back.

Also had another student get pissed off, left, then decided to go on a shooting rampage around town killed two cops, couple of pedestrians, was supposedly on his way back to the school to shoot up the office. Police shot him like 50 times

60 Minutes or one of those shows did an investigation years ago into the cops on I-10, apparently if you had Texas or Florida plates they would stop and search you.

The reporter rented a car with Florida plates, then drove I-10 from Beaumont to Lafayette and of course the cops bit and stopped him

Grew up in sect. 8 housing....crack was no joke. Even as a kid I knew my neighborhood had changed for the worse. Early 80’s it was young families setting themselves up and moving out. Late 80’s it was drug fiend parents and unsupervised child hell raisers. Ambulances wouldn’t come into my neighborhood without police being there first.

My dad was working and going to night school. Took him a decade to graduate but we never went hungry and we never went back. Very proud of him and the example he provided me.

They still do that on the I10 corridor coming in from Texas and I believe Texas has an entire police sub force that just stops people on i10 and I20 looking for out of state plates and drugs. Hence the "I-10 Dope Zone".

Edit: Supposedly in the DEA museum (wherever that is) there is a picture of a guy running and white powder flying up everywhere and the police behind him and the photo is labeled something like "A Drug Bust in Shreveport, La"

I only know one person who ever did crack. He was a weed/pills guy. Then one day then smoked crack. Swore he’d never do it again and go down that road. He did it again. Put himself in rehab.

Wise decision.
