I talk to my Counicil person (thats right) pretty often and if you arent listing on ABnB or VRBO you are good to go. They dont have the manpower (or the will) to enforce compliance.
let me get this straight. You are breaking current laws. You speak to your councilman about it often. Your councilman greens lights it and advices they don't have manpower?

Let them tweak.

For the mom and pops like me you dont need to list on ABnB or have the city in your business. A nice, simple operation.

Of course not.

I think you are remembering the old New Orleans when you were here. It was a terrible place where cash was king.

2025 New Orleans is clean, efficient and above board on all things. Local politicians are there to help not to make money. Citizens work seamlessly with local government to make New Orleans a better, more family friendly place.

to rent the property during the masters because of the location. I’m not sure what hole it is on but he told us he was getting over $100k so he bought another house on the course when it came for sale.

Whatever hole it’s on it isn’t on Augusta National.

Probably West Lake or Augusta Country Club. There are indeed homes rented on both but none for $100k. I know a BUNCH of homeowners in the area who rent their places for the Master's and nobody is getting $100k LOL. Less than $10k is the norm, more than $6k but less than $10k. There are exceptions of course but thats the norm. We have been approached by agencies interested in 2 different houses in Columbia County but its not worth moving out of your primary home for a week and moving back in. If it were $20-30K that would be interesting but for $7-$8k its just too much work.

I know a woman who owned a 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath condo across Washington Road from the entry at the North Gate of Augusta National - about 1/2 mile or less. CBS Sports rented her place every year for a LOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG time. Augusta National has bought up just about everything in the area that close...I know another man who had a small 1200 square foot 3/2 starter home that backed up the fence at Augusta National. They bought it several years ago for a PILE of cash.

I did it back when the Packers played in the 90s. Rented to some guys from Green Bay and their wives. Contact was from a mutual vendor. They paid 2,000 per night for four nights. Was married then, went to Florida for the time.

That would be about $4000 today. What a steal.

For you.. not them

I'm not sure exactly where he is over there, I have never been over there.

I'm sure he inflated the numbers, i would have nothing to go on to be honest. I live in BFE Alabama. you can still rent 3 bd 2br houses near me for under $1000 a month

So you're saying they are offering ~$25,000 a night to rent your house?

You must be living in a mansion or have a condo directly next to the dome because the only people who can afford $100,000 on a four night stay are not staying in some shite hole.

My sister had a personal assistant from KC reach out to her about their house. $6k a night. They wired the funds yesterday. Their mortgage was covered for the rest of the year and a little left over for a trip up to see us for that week.

How did they even find her?

Where is her house located?

He said Augusta golf course so presumably he meant Augusta Country Club. If accurate, I’m a little surprised they’re not getting more than $100k for that week. I have friends who’ve gotten that for years (plus tickets ans a gift usually) and aren’t anywhere really close to the National.
