around 3500 total with the ring combined.

Fwiw my husband spent less than this and I still got real diamonds. At the time it wasn't his budget to get me a carat or bigger center stone...so he didn't. Got half a carat in a beautiful setting with a ton of smaller, sparkly diamonds. Still a beautiful ring with a beautiful setting that I love. And most importantly...I still said yes and we are still married.

If you want to get moissanite..go for it. Just make sure your fiancee knows that is what it is. Don't try to fake her out.

As long as she knows what it is and is ok with it on the front end, go for it.

My wife swore up and down she wanted a moissanite engagement ring. She said diamonds are “blood diamonds” and didn’t want one. I don’t believe that shite, and if you’re woman tells you anything like that don’t believe her either. I got her real diamonds because I knew better. She loves it and shines that shite up all the time.

I certainly didn't go Moissanite. Never heard of it til now.

My wife got a 1.4Ct rock set in a custom designed setting (think there is another .4Ct) in the setting and band. She's obsessed with it. Made all her sisters and friends jealous and still gets compliments weekly on it. But yeah, it was expensive as frick. And haha, i would urge more men to go the Moissanite route so we can drive down the price per Ct in the future. shite is stupid.

I got my wife a colorless 'D' solitaire and she's never once cleaned it.

Get what will make her happy for the least amount of money as possible. If a moissanite ring does that then go for it.

Only douchebags brag about how much they spent on their wife’s ring and only superficial bitches expect a certain amount of money to have been spent.

First wife got a diamond ring, a Rolex and a boob job. Then by the time that was paid for she left.

Second wife got a Moissanite, a Timex and a Wonderbra.

I bought a moissanite ring and some jewelry on a Carnival cruise. They told me the moissanite mines will be closing so the stones will go up in value.

Big diamonds look beautiful. Big arse shiny gem vs a teeny tiny speck of a shine.

In all seriousness though, getting a fake diamond to appear like you spent a ton of money on a real diamond is as superficial as actually spending money on the real diamond.

100% this.

"We don't care about superficial things so I bought a fake diamond. But I made sure to get a REALLY BIG fake diamond so people will think it's an expensive real diamond. Because we aren't superficial."

FWIW I don't hide from people that the stone I bought for her isn't a diamond. And we discussed it up front that she didn't want a diamond. She loves the ring and cleans it all the time. Plus it's big and flashy because it's a halo setting with diamonds. And the biggest win of it all is I know friends who paid more for rings and got wayyy less return. Meanwhile they're still paying for theirs and I'm done paying mine off.

I was lucky enough to find a girl whose mom had a 1.03 ct diamond in the family since the mid 1800's. Passed down to one girl every other generation for their engagement ring. Her mom got it from her aunt after she was already married so it just sat in storage for years until I asked my wife to marry me. Asked her mom for the diamond and she gladly obliged. Took it to a jeweler and had a nice ring made with it with a ton of small diamonds on the sides. The engagement ring and wedding band cost me a total of about $2,500 since I saved so much on the center diamond.

The secret to marriage is finding a girl who's willing to provide a big diamond for free

My future wife wanted a $90 ring so that's what I went with. That's also about equal to two months salary for me so that was nice

Not the baw you called on, but I want a Moissanite engagement ring someday when that time comes. I think they're absolutely beautiful.

EDIT - I don't want some absurd celeb-sized ring to pretend and fake people out. I just think Moissanite is pretty.

Agree with all of this. People want to act like they aren't materialistic because they buy a fake diamond over a real one, but then buy a fake diamond that is way bigger than the real diamond that they could afford and try to play it off like it's real

I love a solid gold band, both on men and women. Men seem to really be going for oddly bulky rings these days.
