The schools will be the absolute last things to reopen

I really think we need to shelter in place until such time as our government can assure us with 100% certainty that the virus has been eradicated and that there will be zero infections and zero deaths for ever and ever.
Further, we need to shelter in place until the economy is brought back to the stone ages where we can trade rocks and sticks for various services.
Until then, keep everything everywhere LOCKED DOWN. Stay safe!

Again, you’re being incredibly myopic here.
Even if it is all about you, you honestly think nothing is going to change for you personally if the majority of the labor force can’t go back to work next fall because they have to be home with school-ages children?
What exactly do you do that you don’t rely on other working people?

One thing I don’t think people are considering. Are teachers going to be willing to come back? I would imagine a high percentage are out of shape (pre existing conditions) and are they going to be willing to expose themselves to the germ factory known as school. Remember they are a union.

Right...so take a school district that starts paying teachers in September which means that when school let's out for the summer they're guaranteed pay for June, July and August...so starting school in July through June means they're receiving double pay for August on top of the bump in pay for 8 additional week's for going through the following June. State is going to be crippled for money very soon and I don't see how this is possible.
I've taught in three states and we got paid year round in each of them, but yeah I would think that if they have to teach during the summer that would require more money because of the unions.

That depends on if its a private school or a parochial school. Religious based education is much more flexible and a hell of lot cheaper to begin with.
