Those aren't coming from outside. That many swarmers usually means he has a carton somewhere in his house.

Did he leave his home for a month with all doors and windows open? That's an incredible amount of termites.

You'll be able to knock that house over with a Prius in a few years if he doesn't do something.

This makes me wonder how the plantation homes survived for so long before termite treatments even existed.

Well I just went down a rabbit hole. Apparently they would rub creosote on the wood, use brick or stone raised foundations, and utilize open breezeways to keep the wood dry. They also built homes with old growth wood that was really dense and resistant to termite infestation. Burning nearby brush was another effective strategy along with lime washing exteriors.

Because the ones around here were made of cypress. Termites don’t like cypress and the oils that are in it.

At the 1:56 mark in the vid, he shows where they were coming out of an exit hole. It was on his SECOND FLOOR by his shower door. Those things work from the ground up. Carton nests can happen for sure, but typically they'll start at ground level and work up from there.

That guy is going to find a metric frickton of damage.

Feel bad for the fella.

maybe if he had spent less on his tats and more on home maintenance this wouldn't have happened.

And all those dogs? dude is weird. Maybe opened up all his door and left lights on for the likesandviews.

The company who did the termite treatment on Bayou Bullz house is about to get fricked by his lawyer.

What are the chances he started a termite contract when he closed on the house to show he has one, then just did not renew it to save a few hundred dollars a year.

Treated lumber should prevent that kind of infestation. I can't imagine that house was built without treated lumber. Sometimes a contractor will cheap out with the soffits or a chimney framing but an inspector should catch that.

it seems like it would have been a somewhat slow progression though, right? at least over the course of a few days? he seems completely shocked, like he's never seen them inside before.

maybe not, i dont know shite about termites other than i turn off every single light on my property when they swarm.

I used to live in one of those 100 yr old homes. I had two infestations, but also a Terminix contract. They fixed every square inch of that house at no cost to me.

P.S. No, I'm not a Terminix employee.

Turn the fricking lights out dumbass......

We're dealing with termites right now.....we signed a contract with D&A Exterminating and the set up bait stations all around the perimeter outside the house in the ground and about 6 bait boxes inside the house......the exterminator said the most important thing to do is NOT spray them...all that will do is kill the worker termites and the queen will produce more.....the goal is is to kill the queen, but you gotta get to her, and the way to get to her is to bait the workers that will bring the poison back to her....they said the queen can live up to 50 years.......spraying them, or shooting foam in your walls is like pissing in the wind.......I got home last night from a weekend trip and they were swarming inside and out......... all I could do is turn every light off inside and out
