…for the next 18 months? Hope none of y’all missed the deadline. More free money if you live in a poor Harris County zip code due to hardships of Covid. No questions asked.

Living off of the government is not something that a baw does. Baws work for a living.

I wonder how Dora the Explorer Hidalgo is making money off of this and if she will get indicted for this one.

Has more to do with shifts in age demographics and how the labor participation rate is defined

Someone who is in their 70s or older and is retired is considered part of that group

I love that the first goal is to “improve self-sufficiency.”

Seems like being faced with homelessness and starvation would do that more quickly than subsidizing an existence to train them to get by with whatever the handouts are… but I mean, I’m no observer of human nature.

Give these MFs a spay or neuter and that will probably help them more than the money.

Why even go that high on this program, unless it's to invite fraud?

What are the eligibility criteria?
Two cohorts of applicants will be eligible for Uplift Harris Guaranteed Income Pilot funds. Eligible applicants will be randomly selected for both cohorts.
? Geographic cohort: Eligibility is based on income and geography. Applicant’s household income must be below 200% of the federal poverty line (FPL) and reside in one of the identified high-poverty ZIP codes. Around 70% of the Uplift Harris Guaranteed Income Pilot participants will be selected for the Geographic Cohort.

200% below the poverty line?

and 500 dollars is supposed to help you out?

So it will basically pull you up to 100% below the poverty line.

Rather than money, how about a trades course or some other community college education free so they can eventually do better? If they choose not to, then that’s in them. You know, teach a man to fish vs throwing him a fish?
