How would you fare with 2-3 months training?

Can't swim well so that would be my downfall.

Minimum isn't that difficult. But that's just going to get you weeded out early. Optimum is likely the minimum.

How delusional is the guy that thinks he can be a navy seal but is unable to do 10 pull-ups in 2 minutes

Curious if the test stops if you rest or if you could drop from the pull up bar and then get back at it

You're a sad excuse for a man even if you can do that.

The swim would be the easiest one for me. I swam distance competitively so I have really good form and that goes a LONG way in the water. I once had a marine buddy that thought he was in amazing condition and he wanted to race a mile in the lanes at a pool. I lapped him 15 times.

I'd prob blow out a knee training for the run. I could prob get to 16 pull ups (I'm at about 7 right now after taking a few years off from working out). The rest - I have no clue.

The Army PFT used to max out at I believe 77 push-ups in 2 minutes.

Best I got was 83 in 2 minutes and that’s pumping almost the entire time

I know I would have been able to do the minimum (excluding swimming) as of couple weeks ago. Dealing with Golfer’s elbow now unfortunately.
Haven’t been in a pool in years. Never measured or time myself when I was in a pool

I know I could meet minimum standards not sure about optimum.

Every month since I have been out of the military I have taken the Army PT test from that time and I am trying to see how long I can continue to max it, I am 55.

I do 72 pushups in ~1:30 so I am sure I could get minimum but likely max out at about 90.

I do 82 full bent leg situps in ~1:50 so I think I could max curlups

I can do 10 pullups in well under a minute, I could do 20 behind the neck pullups in 2:00

The swim has me stumped. I know I could get minimum since I swim 3200 in the Diversion in about 26 minutes, as I am better endurance wise than speed wise I am not sure I could do 1500 in 8:50 but probably could with a couple of months working on my stroke efficiency.

I swam competitions as a youth and swam laps in college to stay in shape, and 500M (or yards) in 8 minutes is still booking it for 99.9% of the population.

It's incredible how much swimming works your body like almost no other workout can and how even short distances can gas out so many people who think they're in shape.

I can easily do the push ups, sit ups and pull ups right now. I could do the run in the allotted time but I would be sucking air. The swim would get me. I've never done that for time but I'm guessing that's 10 lengths of an Olympic lap pool? I couldn't do it that quickly.

Another point - do you have to do these one after the other in succession or can you do them at your leisure? That makes a world of difference. I mean if you have to do all of this in less than an hours time frame that makes it a lot harder.

hit the nail on the head. Fitness certainly makes a huge difference, but the thing that separates swimming from the rest is technique. If you're in the water just flopping around you're wasting your energy. Some body types are also better suited for distance swimming. Long and lean is what you want.

Most people flail around in the water and then freak out. If you control your breathing and don't waste movement that swim shouldn't be that hard

Olympic pool is meters, not yards, so you're actually swimming a bit shorter than standard/Olympic pool lengths.
