Adult and Teen Challenge. The cost is different in their different regions, but if he/she is on disability, it is a % of the disability amount (25% of the total check in Alabama). It is a 12 month program, and it's fairly intensive and restrictive, especially in the beginning. We've been through this multiple times with a close family member with outpatient rehabs and 30-90 day programs. None of them work for the most hard core addicts.
It's faith based, like many of them, so if he is non-religious, he may object to it, but my relative agreed to go, and it seems to be working wonders for him.

Teen Challenge is great and not just for teens, awesome program.
I agree. Plus the recidivism rate for people who complete the program is around 29%.
The recidivism rate for 30 day treatment programs is more than 90%.
It all depends if you want to get the guy sober for a few months, or give him a real chance at life.

It's not. Cost of treatment has basically zero correlation with chance of success. I'm a big fan of teen challenge which is basically free, but the program last about a year. Don't get hung up on the name. Most people in it are between 25-35.
My relative is 46. I took him to the facility myself. He's older than most all of the residents, but there are at least 3-4 even older. One of them is over 60. It's not a teen thing, as only the facilities with schools can even host teens. Most of their facilities are strictly adults.

Um, how is someone applying for Medicare useless, bc the last time I checked EVERYONE who has ever received a paycheck in America has already paid some Medicare and social security?

I’m personally not a fan of teen challenge. Think more therapy is needed. Although I do agree most people need a minimum 6 months treatment. Conventional model now of just 30 days is ineffective. But that’s usually all insurance will pay for unfortunately.

Unfortunately, getting someone on disability can take years.
Hearings, Denials and appeals.

Palmetto was a great treatment center. I was there a year ago. It averages about $30K for 90 days. They will negotiate price but not for much less
They do take insurance as well. I would not send someone there that is being forced into treatment though.

Try the Hope center in Marksville. It’s an alcohol rehab facility run by all recovered alcoholics and has very good success rate. I’ve had 3 family members go. 2/3 are still sober. It is also fairly cheap. I think a couple grand for the 6 week program.

If you’re looking for a babysitter then i wouldn’t bother with a rehab - you need to help mom kick him out.
Put some essentials in a backpack and drop him off near a commercial area. Call the police if he shows up and isn’t begging to get help.

AA has zero business treating such situations. It's a medical situation at that that time.
Not sure why you quoted me and responded with this, I never said anything like that.

Try to get them in to Pine Grove facility in Hattiesburg. Great treatment facility.
Pine Grove is 90 day treatment.
Woodlake in Ethyl is good too - 45 day facility.
Teen Challenge is great as well. It is a long term treatment. Like a year long.

Maybe you could contact A&E and try to get him on an episode of Intervention?

He did and he "donated" the work out room.
Ex wife went there. Nice enough place and came highly recommended. The 3 day evaluation was $3k and then a 60 day stay was $5k out of pocket and insurance covered the rest. This was in 2012.

Salvation Army Operation Boot Strap on Airline Hwy. Its 100% free. He might have to stay in the shelter for one or two nights to prove he wants in the program so how bad does he want to get sober?
