Any ideas on how to stop these?

While they have had school shootings before Columbine, none of them got the media attention and coverage like Columbine. This is my opinion, but people can blame it on video games, guns (which I do think laws like having to be 21 to buy AR-15 and hand guns, but not all guns because 18 year olds should be able to buy guns to hunt and be able to protect themselves), etc, but I think the biggest factor is the media coverage these shootings gets.

Watching movies and playing video games doesn't cause the average kid to suddenly want to go shoot up schools, but teenagers that has mental issues, they do see the coverage and attention these events get, they are mad at the world and they know about these other shootings so they want to try to one up the body counts.

I bet if the media coverage stopped and everyone stopped posting about these events, on social media, when they happen, there would be a decline in these shootings.

I saw that the actual shooting victims were a guy and a girl which makes me wonder if this isn’t some kind of love triangle rather than a “school shooting.”

Only way to stop this is to put a bad motherfricker armed in each school.

Think mercenaries. Former deltas, rangers, etc.

I'd be happy to pay extra taxes to add one toneach school. Essentially an additional employee.

Israel does this, I believe.

The only one I remember being talked about before Columbine happened was Charles Whitman at UT-Austin and that was way before I was born.

Another public school that probably didn't have any armed personnel whatsoever. Hmm...

People have been desensitized. Semiautomatic rifles with "high capacity" magazines have been available to civilians since at least the 40s and this crap didn't happen back then. Even the dreaded AR15 has been available to civilians since the early 60s.
At this point, having armed personnel in school (whether it's faculty, law enforcement, or both) is about the only realistic thing you can do.

Having armed personal is fine and dandy but having a cop with a pistol trying to match fire with a Ar-15 just doesn't seem fair. Everyone was angry at that school cop in florida but unless he got behind him he was dead the minute stepped out.

I assume an AR was not used here because we haven't seen a weapon ID yet

NVM, I see he used a handgun. Nothing to see here, folks.

The odds wouldn't have been his favor to say the least.

Notice I said probably and not definitively.

I know what you said. I wouldn't want to bring a pistol to a rifle fight but if you are charged with protecting and serving, that's what you are supposed to do.

You gonna hold every firearm theft victim criminally responsible when their stolen firearm is used to kill someone?
