All the signs are there of a Soviet-style breakup and collapse, but still, we do our thing, pretending like the multitude of "ifs" can never happen here.

Or they could insert a solid piece of metal to prevent the door from being opened. None of the bottom containers are getting opened because it sits down in the rail car.
They could extend something similar to the top container.
They could possibly do something with the interconnectors between the containers to block the doors from opening but they would be a lot bigger and heavier. Meaning more difficult to install for a single person.
They are also stealing from them when offloaded, too. We had shiat stolen from Charleston yards this year. They just break in and take anything.

It's time to start mowing down these looting mobs. The left will go along with that if they knew the crooks are holding up their precious covid tests.

I'm not so sure. The Left values their loyal voters over Covid tests. They don't care about rioting and looting as long as the votes come.

The big railroads do have their own police forces. And yes, they are real police, not just security guards.
Obviously they don't have enough of them in the LA and Chicago areas
Nope. More DA catch and release.
I'm a bit surprised if there's not federal jurisdiction for the US Attorney to prosecute these cases.

Wouldn't the sentencing be similar to robbing a plane midflight as in a national security threat kind of sentencing?

This is what happens when the Secretary of Transportation goes on “paternity leave” for months with his husband for “their” newborn baby.
If only he would have not taken those days off none of this would have happened.
