I-77 in West Virginia is tolled
I-95 in NJ is tolled
Pennsylvania Turnpike is also tolled
The feds need to relax the restrictions and at least temporarily approve tolls to fund the needed upgrades to I10 from Texas to the Atlantic

Toll-by-plate got taken over by FDOT recently and they are catching up on over a years worth of tolls. I just got an invoice that covered November 2017 through Dec 2018.

How does paying $1.50 break the bank? There are still free options you just would have to go a completely different route likely 20 plus miles out of the way. You’re paying for the route that makes it easiest.

I know next to nothing about tolls. How do they work for people who drive it everyday? I live in Spanish Fort but work in Mobile. Is it going to cost me $150 a month to drive to fricking work?

My issue with tolls on the interstate isn’t so much the tolls themselves. The tolls are effectively just an added tax that only hits people who use the infrastructure - given the infrastructure needs across the country and the huge funding requirements this is probably past-due.
My issue, though, is with the public-private partnership aspect of these tolls. A much more efficient use of our tax dollars would be to get invest all of the toll proceeds directly into infrastructure. It’s a necessary evil, I guess, to get funding. But it’s only necessary because so many states can’t get their heads out of their asses and manage a long-term budget.
