You are trolling or simply have no clue what you are talking about. The defense attorneys didn't make the decision to drop the charges, the District Attorney did. The defense attorneys just obtained the video and showed it to the DA.
If you think the DA has "no discernment" then I don't know what to tell you. He certainly wasn't sitting around just hoping for an opportunity to drop charges on people he already charged.

In a situation that it is proven without a doubt that it was a fabrication, the woman should be charged with something, be drug into a defamation suit and then also have to cover all court/lawyer costs. These guys probably spent 100k to defend themselves and that was a short defense. These dentists probably lost a lot of business when they were accused of rape.

Not sure what the DA did that was wrong. There was evidence to support her story, but than other evidences disproved the allegations. DA did exactly what is to be expected.
