Why do yall put the emphasis on "MON"roe as opposed to mon"ROE"?

I've never noticed it... I have been told we pronounce the "MON" like "MUN" though... I still say Roe City... also I've never heard a person from Monroe, West Monroe, Richwood, Calhoun, or anywhere in Ouachita Parish refer to Monroe as Funroe..,.

We don’t. At least no one I know that does. The emphasis is the same for both syllables.
