Another parent gave UCLA $100,000 to admit daughter for track that wasn’t good enough

This is going to be a long list

“The confidential report, reviewed by the Los Angeles Times, shows that years before the current college admissions scandal, UCLA knew of allegations that parents were pledging donations to its athletic program in exchange for their children being admitted to the university in violation of rules prohibiting the practice.”

“The track and field director later said in a letter, also reviewed by The Times, that he had approved the admission at the request of a senior athletics official.”

“The woman, who graduated from UCLA in 2017, was never listed on the school’s track and field roster during the years she attended. The team’s media guides don’t list her as a manager, either.”

Not that it makes the parent any less retarded, but UCLA is generally regarded as one of the best public universities in the country. When you consider the fact that all the brand-name Ivy League schools are on the other side of the country, and that Cali families will get to pay in-state tuition, it makes a tad more sense.

I really don't mind that much if parents buy their kids' way into these universities.

More money to the university equals better facilities, professors, equipment, etc. and allows for more student capacity.

I say that these bribes actually helped other students get into a university that would normally not have had the capacity to facilitate them, and also gave them a better education than they otherwise would have.

They do say this one actually isn’t illegal because a fake charity wasn’t involved.

You haven't paid attention to the "product" these schools are turning out. Nothing has improved as far facilities and especially so-called educators. These are indoctrination centers that are taking in bribes.

I don't doubt that universities need a lot of improvement, but I don't think things would have been any better without the bribes.

Universities spend money like the government, for every $1 spent they probably gain about 10 cents in value. But still better than nothing.

I just want to say
That being chosen as this month's Miss August
Is, like, a compliment I'll remember
For as long as I can
Right now I'm a freshman
In my fourth year at UCLA
But my goal is to become a veterinarian
'Cause I love children
