You are ignorant. Does your mom bring milk down to the basement in your pretend world?

I think a lot of that comes from people with the mindset ‘I’ve never been addicted, where’s my recognition’

Not saying I’m right, or they’re right, just why I think they react that way

Alcohol will eventually fade away like cigarettes. The later is basically non existent now and people are realizing alcohol is worthless to the mind and body.

Alcohol is literal poison. You drink it, it poisons you, but it makes you feel high in the process. Nevertheless I persist.

But my early 20s daughter has never even considered drinking it. Says it is stupid and ridiculous to poison yourself. And a lot of her friends are the same. So the consumption of alcohol is likely to nosedive as these youngsters get older and folks like me die off.

Congrats. Bout to make 10 months clean myself. Been quite a year.

That said one of the things about the AA/NA programs that bother me is how they use time as the benchmark for recovery. Everybody claps when you pick up that next chip/tag but what you do in that time is the real metric. Somebody who hasn’t used in 5 years but has done nothing and still not connected with society is not better off or more accomplished than someone who has 3 months clean but made significant strides in finding their footing and reintegrating into the world.

You could see the change. Not just on TV. I've followed him on twitter for a long time, and even though he still loves to throw out some troll posts, he's clearly more thoughtful, grateful, and considered in his posting.

He’s the same douche, just not as red in the face and bloated in the belly.

Oh I have absolutely appreciated his troll level for years.

Trolling is absolutely the best thing he does, but even that I think is overrated.

Setting health/fitness goals is a good way to fill that time and drag yourself out of the habit of drinking. Although I’m not 100% on the wagon, when I am not drinking, it’s easy for me to tell people, “it’s not in my training plan” or “I have a big work event coming up I need to be clear-headed for.” Then explain about a race or something else I’m preparing for. Most people are like, “Cool.”

Closing in on 5 for myself. Do miss the ritual but life is 100% better, especially health wise.

2/25/24 here coming up a year sober

Don't plan on drinking again.
That stuff made me ignorant to my own problems, problems I should of been addressing.
