Zocalo unfortunately sucks now.
Went there opening weekend and it was really fricking good. It's been steady downhill since then and the last time I went it was just not good. Unreal inconsistency and their ingredients are subpar.
Place could and should be great but it's just not. Drinks are decent but still inconsistent.
Station 6 is bomb. So is Brasa (which is owned by the same people as zocalo lol)
Orleans is obviously better than JP for food and drinks, but you're missing out on some really good places if you refuse to cross the parish line.
Kanno also destroys any sushi place in orleans
Eta: as for the OP, other people's political opinions don't trigger me or hurt my feelings so much I can't enjoy some good food so I will continue to pick up St. James for lunch.

The one on Metairie road is packed with the 25-35 crowd pretty much every time I go there.
I'll give you porter and luke tho. That place has decent food but tge atmosphere is a 4/10 and the average age of patrons is about 67

Metairie is just as much a piece of New Orleans culture as New Orleans itself. Especially as more transplants move in Metairie and Kenner are where you still find the majority of people actually from the area for multiple generations and in big family groups. So I wouldn’t expect Metairie to have bad food. I don’t really expect anywhere in South Louisiana to have subpar food. New Orleans just has the highest concentration.
