I'd thought there would be a video of the election.

I feel extremely vulnerable if I don’t have a seat buckle on and I grew up when it wasn’t against the law to not wear them. I’ve always worn them.
I also keep a combo window breaker and seat belt cutter in all my cars.

Same with me. I've always bucked up even before it was the law.
I call it suicide by stupidity.

bc someone didnt buckle up one time? do you realize people die from wearing their seatbelt? id give this story a little break rather than calling it "suicide by stupidity"
Deaths from those who wore seatbelts and those who didnt were almost equal, given the fact that 1 out of 10 (10%) do not wear their seatbelt

I don't wear mine. I did for the longest time and then I stopped. I honestly don't kmow why, I drive pretty carefully though.
I have to wear it in my wife vehicle because it'll keep dinging, but my car despite being newer and a luxury car doesn't.

Just read about a couple in a recent news report. Wife had a one car crash and died. No seatbelt.
Cops called the man, who headed to the scene and never made it. Died in a one car accident with no seatbelt.
They left a 4 year old orphan. I wonder if he’ll wear his seatbelt when he grows up. Could go either way.

OK moron, keep trying to justify not wearing that seatbelt.

I thought this thread was referencing that news item as well. I believe both wreck occurred in North Baton Rouge.

I love when people smugly post stats that absolutely annihilate their position. This is amazing.

The absolute worst is when the kids aren't buckled or in a carseat. Ignorant parents, innocent children. Seems a weekly occurrence around here.

So? What about the idiot who hits you head-on, T-bones you at a light, or drives you off the road into a tree when he swerves into your lane?
No matter how carefully you drive, you're risking your life on all the idiots driving crazy around you.

I hate wearing a seatbelt. Hate feeling restrained. Almost a distraction and possibly more dangerous to wear for me

WTF? How often does the seatbelt itself cause a death??
Sure, people still die while wearing their seatbelt, but not from it.
Your own statistics show that the odds of survival are dramatically better than those in wrecks that don't wear one...
