I wonder if everyone back in the day smoked just to mask their body odor? This was a time before air conditioning, before every home had washers and dryers, before daily showers became popular... it was a smelly time.

What makes the Hitler picture kind of scary is that he looks normal. Most pictures he is yelling, in military uniform, or surrounded by people in uniform that takes the normalcy away.
