But I would be glad to help hold any downvoters down.

Oh I agree, it's not, it's a blue/decency issue that sorely needs to be addressed.

I was invoking the popular Cards Against Humanity response with my BBC joke.

Aren't the downvotes indicative of the verdict? Mine was. The other 48 can drown.

So you don't believe he was being truthful about his fears in the situation, but believe he is being truthful about following his training? How do you decide what to believe here exactly?

There is evidence of how he was trained. There's an entire police force with training records. All he has to do is have his account match their documentation. If it doesn't, he goes to jail.

Seriously, this is not that difficult.

Oh I see. He must have received special training that none other cops there got, since he was the only one that fired his weapon.

I agree. Not sure why you're attempting to make it that way.

The part where the cop created the impossible situation to begin with. Throw down on him and have someone else cuff him. All the other bullshite was unnecessary and cost an innocent man his life. The cops should've spent the rest of his life behind bars.

fricking psychopath cop actually got off

1) cross your legs
2) raise your hands in the air
3) comply or die with the command: crawl towards me

hard to make up really.

quote:

once this cop reasonably feared for his safety, it became a clear shoot.

there is a 0% chance that a group of intelligent people could agree that the cop reasonably feared for his safety.

Holy fricking shite. That entire department from the top down should be shut down and reevaluated.

The guy was cop for less than 2 years and they let him arm up in swat gear and carry an AR15 into a crowded hotel and point it at people? He was the lead point man in that fricking hallway with less than 2 years police experience much less tactical experience?

Would you let a doctor perform surgery on you after the first two years of med school?

Dude you can't even be a fricking licensed plumber or electrician in 2 years.

Think. About. That.

It takes 1-3 years of apprenticeship and then 1-5 years of journeyman to then sit for the masters plumber exam.

This frick nut was given and AR15 and tactical gear with less than 2 years of police experience?

It's time to reform our fricked up police departments.

No shite. You have to pass a course and have 5-years of experience before the state of TN will even let you submit jurisdictional determinations for a creek

There's proof of his defense. There's evidence of how he was actually trained. There's that darn jury decision which sided with his defense rather than the prosecution version.

I can only walk you so far. If you don't want to read the scoreboard, I can't help you.

I can not understand why there isn't more national attention over this case.

I understand the judge would not allow the video to be released until the trial was over. But it's out there for anyone to see now.

It’s been out part of a day and theres a nearly 20 page thread here, several shorter ones, and everyone I’ve spoken to is familiar with it already.

I think it’s getting a pretty substantial initial spotlight- now a matter of how soon we get distracted or if outrage has a chance to really spike here

The cop created a situation where there was going to be no fluid motion for the suspect. Rather than move in on him when he's on the ground or have him stand and walk slowly backwards with his hands up, the cop put a drunk guy in a movement where he was guaranteed to stumble with a quick movement that startled a cop begging for a reason to kill him.

If what you are saying is true then he is literally the only cop there that followed his training. The rest all deviated. Why is he the one that's been fired and the rest of them are still employed if he's the only one that did what he was trained to do?

I'm sure people like oj Simpson and Casey Anthony would share your unwavering faith in jury decisions.

You're presenting a scoreboard where that psychopath is not at fault in this situation. I have no desire to read that. Quite frankly, the fact that you do says a lot about you.

I’m late to this thread but these cops need too fricking understand they’re cops and not the fricking military. They’re job is too protect the public. THAT IS ALL. I don’t give a frick if they’re prior military they need to forget aspects of that and realize it’s completely different.

Having an AR-15 with “you’re fricked” inscribed on it is military shite not fricking police officer shite. Hell the military got held accountable for deaths of unarmed civilians in Afghanistan how are cops getting away with it here?

Just listening to him made me cringe. He’s a no good piece of shite who should never had a gun in his hand. Shocked he’s not punished for that. He clearly murdered that kid. While he was laying on the ground he could see there was no weapon in the small of his back. Kid was drunk and scared and as trying to listen to his commands. If I was a cop I’d be pissed to share the badge with the likes of him.

I just watched the video.

Anyone who watches how that officer handled the situation and doesn't think he is a psychopath has some serious soul searching to do.

He could have incapacitated the victim any number of times in any number of ways, but he wanted to play badass.

Crying shame.

Yes that cop is guilty of murder and the state definitely owes the murdered guys family some financial compensation. Hopefully Mark Geragos can appeal and get the family some financial justice. They won't get criminal justice so I guess they'll have to settle for money.

It's not a computer script. The other officers clearly used better judgment. He was fired because of the reasons already outlined.

You're over-personalizing it. Settle down. I have not claimed some unwavering faith in the jury decision, I have only described the process and the outcome, available to anyone with basic Google skills.

I've been drawing a distinction between his obviously flawed personal judgment, the limitations of criminal liability under these circumstances, and the civil liability of the agency that trained him.

If you think that kind of rational thinking reflects poorly on the messenger, you're going to have a tough time getting through life. At some point, if your maturity level fails to develop beyond this, you should find the courage to seek professional help.
